The Music Guest House, located in Lisbon's most iconic districts: Chiado and Bairro Alto, features eight guestrooms spread over two floors, including one single room and one suite.

Bairro Alto Music GuestHouse provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, express check-in and check-out and a private bathroom with an oversized shower, the perfect choice for a short stay.

Located next to the famous Conservatorio Nacional, a music school founded in 1837 inspired the design of the rooms to translate the music and Lisbon mood through its textures, colours, and materials.

As a 100% Portuguese company, and to give our guests a deeper taste of Portugal, we chose Portuguese brands to create this Guest House, architecture, design, decoration, ceramics, textiles, amenities. Portuguese architects and designers created exclusive art pieces and developed a particular mood, taking the guesthouse name and location next to Conservatório (Music School) into account.

Lovely stay

The rooms were very clean, cute, and comfortable. The communication and service was very good. Excellent location, we found it quiet. The main things are limitations of the building, so probably difficult to improve - the Mozart room has very low sloped ceilings so it is easy to bump your head - a tall person would struggle to be comfortable here. A small fridge in the Mozart room would be great. Also, access to the Mozart room via the stairs is a bit tricky with heavy luggage.

I think this property would be great, just not the particular unit we were in. We were in the Mozart unit. I didn't realize the ceiling was so low! My husband is 5'11 and his head touched the ceiling in the highest spot. We both had to slump over when walking anywhere in the unit. Unless you are of short stature, this unit is not for you. The place was very clean, but there wasn't even a small refrigerator which would've been really nice. Just to keep a drink cool or fruit, etc. Again, it's just this unit. I'm sure the other ones are great.

Perfect hub to explore the city

I arrived later than expected which was no problem due to the previous online check-in and passcode to enter both the guest house and the room. Mozart is the attic room in the guest house. Very clean and tidy with five windows to ventilate the room. Great to have the air condition too! Comfortable bed with an extra switch to turn off electricity behind it. Overall a well-designed room. Occasionally I noticed a slightly unpleasant smell coming from the shower when I opened it. I suspect this has more to do with Portuguese drainage systems and fortunately the smell was no problem during or after showering. I am aware this is nothing to be changed but I don’t recommend this room to people who are over 180cm in height. The low ceiling and sloping roof line definitely add to the rooms charm but I can imagine taller people not appreciating this as much as I did.

Central Location and Very Clean

The location is very central - walkable to many tourist sites, restaurants, and bars. They come and clean your room everyday. We did have the top unit where the ceiling was low but if you are not too tall, it's not a big deal. Would def recommend this place to anyone visiting Lisbon.
