THIMBLE COTTAGE, BOTALLACK
There's something magical about Thimble Cottage. A former tin miner's cottage dating back to the mid 1800s, it's been stylishly refurbished to create a calm, cosy sanctuary for couples to escape and unwind.
It's impeccably finished, featuring a huge inglenook fireplace that retains its original Cornish character whilst the furnishings add a touch of bijou luxury to make your holiday feel special.
Walking through the stable door, the cosy open-plan living space feels stylish yet homely whilst the spacious bedroom upstairs has been designed with comfort and relaxation in mind.
Outside, the private garden has a south-facing patio where you can eat al fresco, as well as an upper level where you can get a distant sea view. It's a secluded spot to enjoy lazy, sunny days and some quiet time reading a good book before wandering down to the coast to watch the sunset.
There's so much to explore in this unspoiled Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with world-class beaches, picturesque fishing coves and breathtaking panoramas on your doorstep.
The coast path is directly across from the cottage and a short walk to spectacular cliff top views, there's a local village pub that serves great food, hassle-free off-road parking and a bus stop for the return journey home after those long coastal walks from the cottage.
Everything you need and all the must-see sights are within quick and easy reach, making Thimble Cottage the perfect base to discover all that the far west of Cornwall has to offer.
LOCATION
Botallack, in Cornish, Bostalek, is a historic village close to the coast path and the UNESCO World Heritage Site where the famed Crown Engines featured in Poldark cling to the cliffs.
It's one of many small villages along the scenic coast road between St Just and St Ives. The road weaves its way through tiny hamlets and rural farms with stunning panoramic views across the Atlantic on one side and wild moors on the other.
The many surfing beaches are some of the best here in the far west. Sennen Cove and Gwenver are just a short 10-minute hop in the car where you can enjoy gorgeous golden sands, crystal-clear waters and steep sand dunes.
LIVING
Walking through the front door you enter a bijou open-plan living space. Small but perfectly formed, it's furnished with comfort and relaxation in mind with the large inglenook fireplace taking centre stage. There's a two-seater sofa to sink into after a day out exploring and an armchair in the window to enjoy the evening sunlight.
COOKING & EATING
The fabulous kitchen is open-plan to the living space and has everything to cater for your culinary needs. It's finished to a high standard with an induction hob, electric oven, microwave, integrated under-the-counter fridge with freezer compartment and a slim integrated dishwasher. A table for two is tucked behind the sofa, perfect for those nights you want to eat in.
SLEEPING
Enjoy soaking up slow mornings in the boutique-style bedroom upstairs. There's a comfy king size bed and en suite shower room, bedside tables with lamps for late night reading and a built-in wardrobe offering plenty of space for your clothes and luggage.
BATHING
The shower room has everything you need to refresh yourself after a day at the beach or walking the coast path. There's a roomy walk-in rainfall shower with hand-held attachment, basin and WC. We’ll supply the fluffy bath towels, just remember to bring your own beach towels.
OUTSIDE
A lovely and well planted private garden awaits with a number of places to relax and follow the sunny spots. There's a bistro table and chairs to enjoy your essential morning cuppa and a couple of wooden Adirondack chairs to relax with a good book. There's also an elevated west-facing area where you can end the day watching the sun dip into the Atlantic behind Wheal Owles.
