Salmon Run Lodge is in a lovely location, with easy access to forest walks and only a short walk to Carrbridge. The house is poorly maintained and, although tidy, was not clean. We noted from comments in the visitors book that this has been stated on a number of occasions previously.
We raised several issues with Great North Lodges: no small kitchen knives, no kitchen scissors, broken toaster, frying pan unusable. These issues were rectified by the owner and parcels containing these items arrived quickly.
However, there were other problems. The bathroom door lock fell off and we fixed it (noted in the guest book previously), bathroom tap flow control broken (mended by plumber), sofa arms stained, kitchen cupboard door was loose (fixed by owner), en suite shower was broken and several items of crockery were chipped. Two visits from a plumber during our stay to mend the shower.
Cobwebs in the living room and hair balls in the bedroom made the house feel it hadn't been properly cleaned for some time.
We enjoyed our stay and were comfortable, and acknowledge it is a dog-friendly property, but the state of the accommodation was disappointing compared to other rental properties.
