About this property
Coastal Magnificence: Saltwater Chronicles with private sea view deck.
Begin the journey via a secluded and private tree-lined track to the edge of the beach, whereupon an acre of enclosed wild garden and woodland will greet you. Manicured lawn and matured woodland are all yours to freewheel, including a handwoven hammock under the shade of beech trees. The piece de resistance is the spectacular and lighted private deck that nestles into the hillside, casting a magnificent view of the wild sea, endless sunsets, and the forever green rolling hills of Southwestern Scotland.
Two secluded beaches are steps away from this lodge. Port Mora, or Sandeel Bay, features a tranquil cove with sandy beach and a murmuring waterfall. At low tide, venture far out on the sand and discover wondrous aquatic life, including urchins, eels, starfish and playful octopus. On the other side, Port Kale provides two sheltered pebble beaches and small rock formations, where hours can be spent playing house, stone-skipping, clambering and collecting seaglass. Our resident seal, whose full name is Tidal Serge the Dunskey Seal of Approval, bobs about in the bay awaiting your admiration. When the tide is out, be sure to wade to the rocks and harvest pepper dulse seaweed, which tastes like oceanic truffles!
Inside the lodge you'll find the large living room with our personal collection of art that has taken a decade to collect and curate. Italianate leather curved sofa, blush pink velvet loveseat, and a vintage rocking chair will make it challenging to find a favorite seat. The modern kitchen is incredibly well-equipped, with a sustainable and particle-free cooking on the induction hob. We have here blond wide-plank oak floorboards with radiant heating underfoot. Taken together with bay windows of magnificent views of the coast, it may be tempting to snuggle up inside all the livelong days.
The first bedroom showcases shades of pale corals and resplendence, bringing that wild Scottish golden-hour lights indoors. Handmade artisan Gustavian bed, dressing tables, and a wondrous mural of the tree of life brings forth a splendorous retreat. The second bedroom is the colour of the sea, with pops of colours from accented birds in both a water-haven mural and artwork. Two Italian canopy beds are in the third bedroom, with gleaming turquoise accent colours and murals in a pink-hue background. All of our bedrooms feature the finest mattresses, crisp high thread count linens, and luxuriously soft bedding. Each bathroom features rain shower, soaking tub, and heated towel rails.
The patio courtyard includes a corner outdoor bathtub where you can take in that glass of champagne alongside your favourite novel, while the sun slips into the sea. The BBQ grill is at the ready alongside reclaimed wood dining tables and chairs. Most days, we promise you'll have curious visitors, from soft-footed prancing deers to chattering sea birds and tottering hedgehogs.

We just loved our stay at Saltwater Chronicles. Beautiful, newly decorated lodge with a brilliant view of the sea. We loved walking along the rocks, exploring the caves, walking up through the stunning green glen to the impressive waterfalls. The two lochs are so pretty. Every member of the team we encountered on the estate was friendly and welcoming. The meals we ordered from the kitchen were delicious. Communications were quick and helpful. We can’t wait to return.
