Sleights has a bar, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop, a butcher's, a bakery, a hair salon, and a post office within a Spar store, despite being a quiet town. The end of the North Yorkshire Steam Railway is only a short drive away, and Sleights is served by frequent public transit to and from the adjacent port of Whitby.
