Town: This historic town lies just north of Stockton-on-Tees, in the English county of Durham. It offers many sporting facilities including a golf club, squash club and cricket club, but is more popularly known for its Racecourse, which boasts a friendly reputation and relaxed atmosphere. There are many events on throughout the year, with race meetings dating back to 1846 and even earlier. With its restaurant, bistro and bars, you can enjoy a fun-filled day out with the whole family. The market town of Stockton-on-Tees has two modern shopping centres, yet still retains many of its original yards, most interestingly being Green Dragon Yard housing the Green dragon pub, recording studios and Britain's oldest surviving Georgian Theatre. The River Tees running through the town offers a plethora of watersports activities including rowing and canoeing, as well as dragon boat racing, and pleasant strolls along the Tees Walkway, accessed via the Millenium Footbridge.
