Overview

About the property

close proximity to Beech and Sugar Mountain!

Our family's mountain getaway is located 4000 feet up Big Haw Mountain in Avery County, NC. We look forward to your family enjoying it too!! Located within a half an hour of Beech Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Roan Mountain and Linville Falls, this beautiful two-story round house has plenty of room for the whole family (easily sleeps 10) to relax and enjoy a peaceful mountain retreat. You can enjoy exploring in the woods, the stream, foraging for fruits and berries (we have grapes, apples, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, peaches) or just sitting on the upper or lower decks that surround the 1,950 sq ft house to listen to the stream and watch the birds. If you venture out to the surrounding areas to explore, there are many beautiful parks, great restaurants, a lovely library, and anything you could need for your stay within minutes down the mountain.

A master bedroom upstairs boasts a rustic, custom log queen bed, tv, and beautiful master bathroom with luxurious double shower and Jacuzzi tub. There are three twin beds in the other sleeping area upstairs, as well as fold out memory foam mattresses for guests who would rather snuggle down elsewhere. (or little ones who would rather be near Mom and Dad). The downstairs is appointed with Chinese Oak floors, custom rustic dining room table, coffee table and bench, leather couch and oversized recliner, large tv, and a large kitchen to prepare your gourmet vacation meals!

We are still working on more amenities, but for now, it is a perfectly wonderful get away. Please contact us if you have any questions about our home away from home.

About Jeff and Laura Boronski

Hello! We are a family of 10 (our oldest wasn't with us for this picture) who love spending time up in the mountains. After years of looking and many rentals all over NC, we finally found our own place. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Jeff and Laura Boronski purchased this house in 2016

Why Jeff and Laura Boronski chose Newland

This property has everything we were looking for: Seclusion without being too far from adventures, a stream running through the property, wooded areas, flowers, places to grow things, and a peaceful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

What makes this house unique

Our property is the best of both mountain worlds. We are at 4,000 feet, but have a large beautiful yard to play in and explore without falling down the side of a mountain.

Clean and inviting home!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this cabin for two nights. There were 4 adults and 4 children. We all had plenty of room and the house was great. The yard looked so fun for the kids, but it was raining. We hope to have a sunny trip here in the future so they can explore! Thankfully, there were games and movies for the kids. The house was very clean and inviting. The owners were very kind and helpfull as well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was for the very firm mattresses. If you are used to that, you will sleep great and have an amazing time. I did love that there were plenty of options for sleeping, including some fold out mattresses. We would definitely recommend this home for a get away.

Great location for quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the 'Round House' for a few nights during October. The house had plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children. Very quiet neighborhood that was just far enough away from civilization, but still close enough to get to restaurants/stores as needed, to create a really relaxing atmosphere. The owners were very quick to respond to our texts as needed. If you like to stay at unique locations for reasonable costs, this is an excellent choice! The house is well maintained; some minor cosmetic updates would be good, but nothing that detracts from the overall charm. We loved the wrap around porches on both levels - awesome view from the 2nd floor porch. We wish we could have stayed more than 3 days!

The house was large and accomodating for our family. The scenery breathtakingly beautiful!

We could not have been more pleased with the choice to stay at the round house. Our family included 3 adults and 3 young children (2, 5 and 7). The grandchildren had never seen the mountains so needless to say, there was a lot to explore. The children especially enjoyed the games and art supplies available for a little down time. They got to see deer and chipmunks which they had never seen. Our primary tourist attractions were Linville Falls and Cavern and Tweetsie Railroad. The property was a good distance between the 2. Also convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The foilage was beautiful and the Christmas tree farms spectacular. There was plenty of sleeping room. The kitchen was wonderful and well stocked for all we needed , to have a quick sandwich, breakfast or cook a full meal. (We did it all). The Jacuzzi tub was an especially nice treat. Living a 7 hour drive away didn't leave us much time to rest but when we did, it was so comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. The earlier check in and later check out time was so helpful when traveling with young children. Hope to have the opportunity to enjoy the property again. Thank you.

Perfect family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time up there picking apples at the orchard at Altapass, visiting the beautiful Linville Falls Winery, and gathering around the bonfire at the roomy and comfortable round house! The beds are so comfortable! All of our needs were met there. Thank you Jeff and Laura!
