Porto Santo is the smallest inhabited island in the Madeira archipelago. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean, in the extreme southwest of Europe, just 500 km from the African coast, 1000 km from the European continent and an hour and a half flight from the city of Lisbon.

Discovered in 1418 by Portuguese navigators, this archipelago is formed by the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and also by the uninhabited islands of Selvagens and Desertas.
