An inviting 1920's cottage home in a popular up and coming neighborhood. Tobin Hill is a transitional neighborhood with diverse culture. It is a beautiful mix of old and remodeled homes, young professionals and 2nd generation original homeowners, and it's a quaint neighborhood with a splash of liveliness from local bars, eateries, and coffee shops a block away. We are located 2 miles north of downtown, and 1 mile from the Pearl, riverwalk (north end), zoo, gulf course, Children's Museum and Brackenridge Park.
Built in 1924, our home is full of character and offers a quaint, relaxing atmosphere, while still being mixed in with the buzz and excitement of the city.
Guests will enjoy relaxing on the covered front porch, or in the private back yard among the flower and herb garden. After a full day of exploring San Antonio, relax by the outdoor chimenea/fireplace!
In addition to the outdoor space, guests have access to all the rooms and amenities of the house, including- the kitchen (fridge, cookware/utensils), laundry facilities, and TV/Wifi. There is a TV in the living room and 1 bedroom with free Netflix and Hulu via AppleTV, as well as local channels.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
We don't live on the property, but we are readily available to assist our guests via email, text, or call. In the case that our guests need someone to come to the property for assistance, a trusted co-host will be available to come to the house.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Coffee is provided for guests
Downtown SA is a quick 2 mile/ 5-10 min drive. There you will find attractions like The Alamo, the Riverwalk, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Hemisfair Park, the Tower of the Americas, and countless restaurants, bars, and shops. Be sure to check out Market Square for a true fiesta feel!
After exploring downtown SA, check out the neighborhood. Tobin Hill has recently undergone drastic revitalization and is full of unique areas and sites to see. In addition to the places mentioned in the photos, some of our other favorite neighborhood places are below:
Farmer's Market- 1 mile from our house at The Pearl. Saturday and Sunday mornings year round. Get your fix on local produce and artisan food and products.
The Pearl- We HIGHLY recommend San Antonio's new hip spot 5 mins from our house and on the northern reach of the riverwalk! The Pearl was originally a brewery founded in 1881. It has recently been transformed into the hot spot of SA and a gathering place for young and old alike. At the Pearl you will find 15 local restaurants and cafes, numerous shops, a weekend farmer's market, concerts/events, and plenty of green spaces to have a picnic or relax among the breathtaking beauty of the Pearl architecture. Spend the day at the Pearl, or just park for free there and jump on the riverwalk and follow it to downtown.
St. Mary's Strip: St. Mary's Strip begins at the end of our street. In the evenings the strip comes alive with music venues, late night eats, and locals walking to various neighborhood bars. Its a great place to enjoy a night out on the town with the convenience of being able to walk home!
Summer Moon- Austin based coffee shop attached to the YMCA (around the corner from our house). Be sure to try their specialty coffee!
Barbaro Pizza: located around the corner from our house, they have great happy hour drinks and unique pizza creations. Great for a date night or a night out with friends!
Brackenridge Park- located 1 mile away and Founded in 1899, this park is intertwined with walking trails, the SA River, the zoo train, a kids' playground, and plenty of bbq/picnic areas.
The DOseum- SA's brand new Children's Museum is located 5 mins away with free and convenient parking. If you have children, this is a must DO!
*Uber & Lyft ($5-$7 to downtown)
*Viva Culture Bus-a new bus service that travels through downtown as well as other area attractions like the zoo, botanical gardens, and museums. This a great option for our guests because it only stops at major tourist attractions, and there is a stop just 2 blocks away.
*Bcycle city wide bike share program. Use a Credit card to rent a bike from any of the bike stations throughout the city. There is a rental station located 2 blocks away at the YMCA.
