Convenient location in Gilesgate and a well prepared house - ideal for our stay visiting family in Durham. The house has been modernised throughout with new kitchen and bathrooms. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and our host was able to swiftly provide details of safe dog walking areas close to the house.Overall a really great experience. Thank you

The house has been renovated and furnished for short-term stays. It's in good condition, with a well-equipped kitchen, parking, a nice garden with seating, and a responsive host. I made an error about the washing machine. The host states that the house comes with one, which is true. My mistake was assuming that it was a washer-dryer combination, which I always had at similar places, but it wasn't. There's a drying rack. Anyone coming from Canada also should note that it's a small washer and takes much longer to do a load compared to home. The bath, sinks, and kitchen counters were clean, and I assume the floors were swept and vacuumed. However, the floors need to be cleaned with more vigour (bring slippers). The promo material for the site is confusing. There's a photo of a coffee shop that might lead you to think the house is in a central location and blurbs that say it's a 15 minute walk from the centre of Durham (or even from the cathedral). It's not. It's in a suburb, and it took me 45 minutes to walk to the cathedral. Thinking I did something wrong, I checked various websites about directions. They said it would take around 30-45 minutes to walk. There is a good bus though that gets you to the centre in about 10 minutes. Don't drive to the centre because of limited parking and restricted driving zones.) There isn't much within comfortable walking distance of the house aside from a decent mini-supermarket about 10 minutes away and a grim convenience store a block away.

Hi Judith, It’s a shame there was a bug on the system, and it now shows as 1 star :( but we are still really happy that you enjoyed your stay! If you ever pass through Durham again you are always welcome back at the Durham hideout!

Durham Holiday

This property is in an ideal location. The facilities were excellent, everything you could need was there. It was clean and comfortable. Lovely garden for our dog. Parking for two cars. Lots of take aways handy if you did not want to cook. Would recommend this to everyone. Will more than likely book again.

What a gorgeous house this is. I travelled with my Grandaughters aged 8 and 6 and my little dog. The house was definitely home from home and we all loved it. The toothbrush and toothpaste packs are great :-) It is approx 15 minute walk into the centre of Durham, which is stunning. It is about

A comfortable and well appointed house in a quiet neighbourhood. It was the perfect base for our stay in Durham, with easy access to the city centre while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it to others.
