About Carol Hester
Carol and Tom have been married for 38 years and have lived the majority of that time in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Parents of two and grandparents of four, they are happy to preserve this historic property — one of the first built at Toledo Bend Reservoir — and to share it with you.
Carol Hester purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why Carol Hester chose Milam
Crappie House offers a unique opportunity to stay in a mid-century modern cabin and to live the good life as you lounge on the balcony or dine over the water in the screened dock house. And of course, there is the world-class fishing, not to mention the large outdoor area, perfect for creating memories with your family or friends.
What makes this Cabin unique
Few properties offer the acreage, accessibility to the lake, and the amenities that Crappie House has to offer, including a private boat launch, large fire pit and screened dock house with sitting and dining areas. Located just north of the Pendleton Bridge, Crappie House is situated at nearly the midpoint of the lake, allowing access to both the north and south ends.

Everything was so nice and relaxing would definitely go back again. The catfish were biting came home with plenty.. Time for a fish fry!! The Hester's have a nice place makes you feel right at home.
Thank you, Debbie, for such a nice review -- our first! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay, and we hope to see you back in the future!
Pictures don’t do justice
The cabin was amazing! We have stayed in many owner-rented properties and this was by far the most well-appointed we’ve had the pleasure of using to date. The launch on the property was a huge convenience and there are some wonderful fishing holes just a few hundred yards out. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our fishing getaway.
Beautiful and Quiet
The new owners did a lot of updates. Kept very clean which is important. The fishing is always good even though we just catch take a pic then release!
Had a great trip to Toledo.. House was right on the water with good private boat ramp with-in 100 yards. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay mid-lake.
The Hester's were nice and their place was amazing!
The lake was tough the week we had stayed but this place made the trip worth it. The Hester's had the place ready a little earlier than expected for us and that was great. They have everthing you need to enjoy nature all you need to bring is groceries and a change of clothes.
Very quiet and relaxing. The house is also nice. We will be returning for another stay this will be our third rental!
