Eddy was a great guest, clear communication, left the place in great shape and although we didn't get a lot of time to chat was really pleasant and amiable. He would be welcome back anytime!
While the hosts welcomed us with wine and shortbread which was thoughtful, we were disappointed by the cottage. There were no accurate photos of the exterior of the annex which is behind the Manse with a dirty, unsafe entrance and difficult access for luggage. Furniture was covered with blankets making it less appealing than the online pictures and the steep staircase to the bedrooms made moving bags difficult. The seal on the shower door in the downstairs bathroom did not function properly and leaked badly, forcing us to use towels constantly to mop up puddles of water, and the washing machine seemed too old to risk using. The kitchen lacked an extraction fan, making surfaces sticky, and some utensils were unwashed and glasses were dirty. Basic tools like a reliable can opener didn’t work, and there were no instructions for appliances or the TV. Noise from guests in the Manse was extremely disruptive, especially with a flimsy door separating the buildings and additional visitors on day two increasing the commotion. Waste management rules felt excessive. We've stayed at many vacation rentals globally, but this experience was among our worst.
