Elegantly backed by the vibrant market town of Ambleside, this luxury paradise is the ideal place to hunker down for a family get-together, gather with friends for a weekend on the fells or celebrate a special occasion amongst the crags and lakes of the National Park.

This unusually spacious former gentleman’s residence is brand new to the market, tastefully renovated and complete with three stunning en-suite bedrooms. It boasts private parking, an EV charging unit, beautiful period features and a large, heated basement for storing all your adventure gear. Located in the dreamy residential area of Millans Park, The Retreat is a quiet, luxurious escape - the place you can’t wait to return to after a long day exploring the surrounding areas. With central Ambleside just a few-minutes stroll away, take advantage of the numerous independent shops, outdoor gear stores, Michelin star restaurants, cinema, and cosy cafes on the doorstep. Or embrace the great outdoors and lose yourself amongst the cycle paths, hiking trails and climbing routes accessible straight from the front door.
Enter the home through the elegant porch and be instantly welcomed by the beautiful period features and light and airy hallway - cold toes will welcome the underfloor heated tiles.
Follow the warmth up the Victorian stairway and be welcomed by the bright spacious hallway. Pause here and enjoy the sunshine on your face through the Velux windows above.
The open-plan kitchen and dining room is a stunning addition to this characterful home. Timber floors, sumptuous furnishings and effortlessly beautiful white units topped with luxurious quartz worktops, this bright and airy space is the perfect hub to eat, cook, dine or chat. Cook up a storm and make the most of the double oven, dishwasher, Quooker Tap and Nespresso coffee machine. With awe-inspiring views of Wansfell from the kitchen window, you may find yourself fighting over who cooks dinner!
The open aspect of this kitchen encourages the whole group to come together at the large statement dining table to enjoy family breakfasts, dinner parties and games nights. The super comfortable sofa-style seating adorned with squishy cushions will no doubt provide the perfect location for special occasions and festivities. The room also has a smart TV and Bluetooth speaker for music.
To the right of the dining room, the living room draws you across the hallway and into a warm embrace. A large, yet cosy, space - ideal for gathering after a day out exploring and catching up on each other’s stories. The wood-burning stove creates a focal point amongst the soft, warm furnishings with a smart TV or stereo system providing endless entertainment for winter evenings and chilly Cumbrian mornings. Pop the kettle back on and relax into the room’s soft palette and incredible mountain views.

With decadent furnishings including a statement chandelier and large shaker-style wardrobe, you’ll find yourself creeping to bed earlier and earlier. The en-suite (with heated floor) is well equipped with a bath and a shower. With soft lighting and marbled effect floor-to-ceiling tiles, indulge in the Pure Lakes toiletries provided and take a long soak in the panelled bath.
The king bedroom offers serene views of beech trees and the fells beyond. Listen closely for the sound of Herdwicks, frolicking across the hills. Rest amongst the treetops in this pastel-tinted room with hand-selected furnishings and soft, cotton bedding. Snuggle down amongst the sheets and enjoy every second in your Lakeland retreat. The en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, over, provides the perfect location to revitalise after a long day on your feet.
Along the Victorian stairwell and back toward the kitchen, the final en-suite bedroom is home to two single beds that can be transformed into a super king. This breath-taking room is spacious and serene, with incredible attention to detail evident in every aspect, from the photography on the walls, to the vintage inspired lampshades. Bring a coffee to bed and enjoy the blue skies bursting through the rooftops and filling the room. The final en-suite bathroom is modern and stylish, boasting a double-sided walk-in shower.

A hidden gem, The Retreat is blessed with an extensive private, heated, underground storage area that is built with outdoor adventure in mind. The space is ideal for storing everything from bikes, kayaks and paddleboards, to climbing gear, buggies and hiking equipment. Accessible from the outside, simply unload the car or roll out your bikes, straight into this convenient space. There is no longer any excuse to miss out on any excitement, bring or hire everything you could possibly need for an adventure of a lifetime. With a utility room adjacent, complete with a washer and dryer, pop your muddy clothes into the washer, and climb the carpeted staircase to your sanctuary.
The Retreat is well equipped with a private parking space in a shared, residents-only car park, it also offers one additional visitor space, on a first come first served basis. EV charging is available on request and conveniently located directly outside the home to ensure safe charging.
The surrounding area is calm and green, with trees and shrubs lining the quiet streets and wildlife in abundance. The nearby Millans Park is just a minute’s stroll away and provides the ideal location for picnics and games. Why not make dinner alfresco and take advantage of the mountain-view picnic tables? The park is home to a fantastic playground and extensive grounds for ball games and sunbathing.
Fancy venturing a little further? Pack a rucksack and head through the park, straight up to Loughrigg Fell, one of Wainwright’s most popular hikes. The Retreat provides the perfect location to explore the peaks in all their glory. With iconic locations such as Fairfield Horseshoe, Kentmere Valley, The Old Man of Coniston and Helvellyn a short drive away, you’ll be hard pushed to pick which climb to tackle next!
