Glendale derives from the Gaelic 'Gleann Dail', meaning 'valley with level fields by a river' and is a nearly 19,000 acre estate extending from Neist Point to Loch Pooltiel. It is a great place to see magnificent wildlife, from bright and beautiful blooming flowers to an array of marine life known to inhabit the area, such as whales, dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks. Glendale boasts a Post Office and village shop, while nearby is Three Chimneys restaurant, which is ranked in the top 100 in the UK, and is ideal for treating loved ones and for special occasions. A short journey brings you to the village of Dunvegan, home to a castle and gardens which has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod for over 800 years. Head to the west coast to discover the Neist Point Lighthouse, a lighthouse that has stood for more than 100 years on a rocky cliff top, overlooking a causeway and the magnificent coastline.
