Timber house Skye eco house/Incredible loch & Mountain View immersed in nature.

Timberhouse Skye is an architect designed property with beautiful views across Loch Dunvegan and close to the famous 3 chimneys restaurant and nearby Neist point. 10 minutes drive to Dunvegan and Castle for local amenities - restaurants and onwards to the Coral beach. Immerse yourself in nature with seal spotting in the loch and if you're lucky a sea otter. Behind the house is Macleod's table mountain where the legend goes that a clan chief threw a dinner party at the top for guests. Every window in the house has a view to these stunning surroundings.

There is a wood burning stove for cosy evenings with complementary bag of logs and kindling.
The property itself was designed by Dualchas architects who are a recognised award winning practice featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum in Dundee.
The house is angled towards the views to give maximum effect from the landscape. The windows all have views and the house allows for you to feel immersed in the surroundings which is very relaxing. The night skies when clear are incredible as well as sunrises and sunsets.
Downstairs is open plan kitchen through to dining and living area. There is a tv with Freeview. Internet service is now using a satellite service at 100mbps. There is a lot of storage for clothing etc upstairs and downstairs there are shelves where you are able to store goods. There is a dishwasher, induction hob and electric oven. In the utility section there is a washing machine.
The upstairs bathroom has a bath and the downstairs bathroom is a wet room. Hot water is supplied by an emersion tank which switches on with the heating. Therefore sometimes it may be necessary to wait for the water to re heat if there have been long showers taken.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The photos don't even do it justice! Sweeping views from every window. A solid, sturdy home that protects from the wind and rain. This place does not disappoint!

We had a very nice stay at the Timber House on Skye. The house's design is excellent, furnishings comfortably functional, location accessible (and not too remote from shops and restaurants in Dunvegan), wifi very good and views of the inlet outstanding. If you're looking for a place to "get away from it all" on Skye, the Timber House offers outstanding value.

Perfect place to stay and enjoy the beautiful views while my toddler played in the living room! We used the provided pack 'n play and baby gate. I saw a high chair as well but we didn't need it. We were sad to leave when it was time to check-out. So glad we booked this place!!!A few notes that are not deal breakers but I can imagine someone might like to know. 1) If you are interested in doing Laundry, there is a washer but not a dryer (accurate in the description but still calling it out)2) There are sheep that will wander the property and sit right next to the house which we thought was charming, but does mean a fair amount of poop everywhere.

Our family of four had the most wonderful stay at the Timber House. Not only was it beautifully designed, the layout added to the ease of access and every window gives you magnificent views. We loved the sheeps that visited us daily. Our dinners at the table to take in the views was such a treat. I also enjoyed having plenty of room for each of us to have some quiet time to read. And a bonus, the washer that can spin the clothes so fast that they are easily dried by the Scottish wind! We already miss it and we only left this morning!! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Skye! Juliet, the host, was very communicative and made the experience smooth and welcoming. We love the Timber House!

After staying in this house I liked it enough that I priced out the cost of building a similar one for myself. The listing is accurate. The house has a wonderful view over the loch (and the occasional seal) and strong sense of quiet, removed the more touristy towns of Skye.

Best House in All of Skye

Incredibly serene and absolutely stunning property. seems like you are out in the middle of nowhere but quaint shops and wonderful restaurants are a 10 minute drive away. Gorgeous drive to walking trails. Hope to come back here one day. One of the best vacations of my life.

Breathtakingly beautiful house and very comfortable

This is the most beautiful, well-designed house we have ever rented. Coming back after a day of wandering to its views of the loch and sheep and lambs wandering by was wonderful and relaxing. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. If you want to be in the center of a town this property is not for you - Dunvegan is an 8 minute drive on a small road. For us it was perfect and we were sad to leave.

Das Haus liegt definitiv nicht zentral. Das liegt aber in der Natur der Sache. Als einziges zu bemängeln war, dass die Heizungssteuerung etwas kompliziert war bzw. keine Informationen dazu Vorlagen. Ansonsten war das Haus sehr schön, es war alles vorhanden was man braucht und die Aussicht ist umwerfend. Definitiv zu empfehlen, wenn man Skyes Natur erleben möchte.

A breathtaking location

My wife, daughter, mother in law, and I stayed four nights in July. The weather was rough, but it didn’t matter as sitting in this beautiful house and watching the rain blow horizontally across the heather was truly lovely.

Safety Concern & No Hot Water

Isle of Skye is beautiful and the home was in a wonderful location; however, I need to give 1 star due to the fact that we did not have heat or hot water during our stay. The biggest concern is safety. We were in constant communication with the host regarding the lack of heat and hot water. The host told us to flip a switch in the fuse control panel. The first few attempts did not work. I decided to not try again before going to bed (even though the host advised that it’s safe) and thank god I didn’t because if I did, the house would have been on fire while we were asleep. I know this We stayed for 3 and didn’t have any hot water until the third night and it was not even enough for the 4 of us to shower.

A beautiful retreat to make home base!

We stayed 3 nights here as we explored all over Skye. The setting is beautiful, with sheep all around to entertain during the downtime. The home is well equipped with everything we needed for our family, including a baby. There was a high chair and a portable crib. Be aware that there is a stair in the main area as well as up to the bedroom. Our baby isn’t able to do stairs yet, so it was fine. Also, the weather was quite chilly and we had planned to do laundry during this portion of the trip. We should have done laundry the first day so there was ample time to dry (no machine dryer). Lastly, wifi information is on the internet box, we never found it while staying.

Comfort and beauty

Bright airy and spacious home with a beautiful view. Sit in the living area and look out for hours at a scene that is like a painting. The bedrooms are comfortable and well fitted with room darkening shades. Great water pressure and good hot showers. Well appointed kitchen. It’s off the beaten path and away from the crowds. Shops in town have more than the basics. Take a walk up the hill behind the house or down to the water after dinner. Lovely

The Timber House

Fantastic location and view. Very relaxing. We have some issues with lights which the host tried to have fixed but we didn't get any feedback and we were without bathroom lights the entire time. It would have helped to have a more extensive information sheet upon arrival. Small things, such as info that the wall heaters are timed to come on and that we didn't have to spend time trying to work them out. Where to buy extra wood; where is the nearest grocery store etc. Little things like that can really help you settle in.

Lovely cottage on Skye

We loved our stay on Skye! The property is beautiful and comfortable but what we loved most of all was the hypnotic views over the loch. So beautiful! Our kids loved playing there and one evening we even spotted a large pod of dolphins showing off in the bay. What an unforgettable experience! Another nice touch is that the cottage is just a stroll from the 3 Chimneys where we had a delicious family meal. Juliet is a very nice host, very responsive and full of good tips to explore the island. I really hope to come back and explore Skye even more. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Well earned rest! Needed to escape and unwind.

This was perfect for us! Much needed break and wowed by the beautiful surroundings. Incredible location close by to attractions such as neist point and coral beach. Great meal at 3 chimneys up the road. Timber house was so cosy and we enjoyed our escape - exactly what was required! Tranquil just to watch the sea, seals and sheep!! Thanks to host for moving dates due to weather and making everything so easy..

I am from Edinburgh and fell in love with the Isle of Skye many years ago so decided to buy a plot of land and have a house built with the most wonderful view.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The west of Skye around Dunvegan has some great panoramic views of mountains and water. The sunset and stars are beautiful with some great wildlife on your doorstep.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Again the view is everchanging and mesmerising. You don’t have to go far to feel at peace with nature. It is also conveniently close to Dunvegan being not far on the peninsula with access to main roads. Further along can get tiring driving back and forth.
