By the late 1700's, the Boyd family had migrated to America just in time to fight for the colony's independence. In the early 1820's they settled Haywood County on the 100 acre plus farm land where the family still resides today- 200 years later.

The house belonged to Lt. Colonel Katie Boyd (deceased) who traveled the world during her army military career collecting antiques and other pieces of one of a kind furniture. The logs in the interior of the house are more than 200 years old. She had the logs moved to the home site in the 1980's and built the first part of the house. It was updated in the early 1990's and then again in 2017.
