About this property
Finest Retreats - Hendy Cottage
Hendy Cottage is a charming Grade II listed Cotswold stone retreat, perfectly situated just moments from Rodborough Common in Stroud, right in the heart of the South Cotswolds. Boasting beautiful views over the Cotswold Way and the picturesque Golden Valley, Hendy is the ideal escape for families or groups of up to four seeking a peaceful break. Full of character and original features, it’s a truly special place to unwind. A wonderful base for exploring the Cotswold Way.
Welcoming up to four guests, this charming cottage is ideal for families or groups seeking a peaceful escape. A dedicated off-road parking space and excellent local amenities add to the ease and comfort of your stay. Outside, you’ll find a lovely enclosed courtyard with seating — the perfect sunny spot for your morning coffee.
Step inside and feel yourself begin to unwind. The cottage is thoughtfully equipped with a full kitchen, including a dishwasher and washer/dryer, making it easy to settle in. The open-plan dining area, complete with a large farmhouse table, flows into a bright and airy sitting room featuring original stone walls, dual-aspect valley views, a wood-burning stove, and a Smart TV — a perfect space to relax and reconnect with loved ones.
The bedrooms are equally inviting, with every detail carefully considered. The master offers a super king-size bed that can be configured as twin singles upon request, alongside two beautifully styled double bedrooms. Each room reflects the natural beauty outside, with thoughtfully chosen textiles and materials enhancing the tranquil atmosphere. A spacious family bathroom features both a bath and shower, as well as a heated towel rail for added comfort.
We encourage you to bring wellies, hiking boots, or bikes and explore the surrounding area. Rodborough Common is not only a Local Nature Reserve but also a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, rich in wildlife and natural beauty — perfect for outdoor adventures. Stroud town centre is just a short walk from the cottage, offering a vibrant mix of independent shops, bars, and restaurants to explore. For a local dining experience just above the house, head to the Bear of Rodborough — a welcoming inn serving delicious locally sourced fare throughout the day. On a sunny day, their gin garden boasts unbeatable views across the valley.
Hendy Cottage welcomes one well-behaved dog, downstairs only during your stay.
