Town: This village and civil parish nestles in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire with close proximity to Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale AONB. Home to Catterick Racecourse, one of the busiest in North Yorkshire; racing at Catterick Bridge began as early as the mid-17th Century, and offers a charming blend of old and new in its Grandstand framework, as well as a fun and relaxing day out for everyone, whatever the occasion. The area boasts a lovely village green with Brough Beck trickling through to meet the River Swale, an idyllic place to enjoy an afternoon stroll, with parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls while local businesses, the sports ground and public houses provide convenience to visitors from far and wide. Nearby, for further amenities, is the ancient market town of Richmond, with a vast history embedded within its grand castle walls and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Admire the elegant Georgian architecture lining many of the old cobbled streets, including the Georgian Theatre, hosting regular productions. The Yorkshire Dales National Park boasts the three peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside as well as gentle strolls and ample walking for all abilities. Discover its wild and windswept meadows, or quiet and tranquil valleys; a picturesque scene placed within easy reach. Farther afield is Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty, brought together with stunning moorland and a network of lush green pastures. This wonderful region of North Yorkshire is to be enjoyed time and time again.
