Lovely property in a great location. Close to Saintes and the beach. The local boulangerie in Meursac was great and the kids enjoyed the local swimming pool. The house has everything you need for a family stay.

Everything was simple….finding the property, gaining entry and correspondence with the owner. The bedrooms were lovely and ours had a ceiling fan which was really useful. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bathroom was great with a large shower.I would highly recommend Les Hirondelles to any prospective holiday maker.

Great house

Great stay at this wonderful house. It is a very quiet area, all you can hear is silence and an occasional bird. The garden is very big and nice for young children as it protected by a fence. Would recommend this house.

Lovely stay

Very well equipped house in a beautiful part of France. Easy access from the ferry and lots of lovely places to go. Our dog particularly enjoyed the large garden and the easy access to safe walks. ‘La Table’ in nearby Meursac was a great find with lovely food. Sophie was a very helpful host. We hope to return again.

Beautiful

This is our 2nd stay and the house is still as beautiful as we remember well equipped and spotless everything you could need with 2 children the safe secure garden and swings are an added bonus. Great location for all the local area beaches and towns we discovered so many more areas on top of where we had already visited last year. So much so we have rebooked to return next year for 2 weeks as part of our 2017 summer adventure!

Comfortable and Relaxing

We had a wonderful stay at Les Hirondelles. The gite is spacious, well equipped and furnished to a high standard. The private garden is enclosed, peaceful and was ideal to relax in. The location is ideal for sightseeing in the area within easy driving distance to Saintes in the East and Royan in the West. Sophie was easy to communicate with and couldn’t have been more helpful during our stay. We would highly recommend this beautiful gite!

Delightful gite!

We really enjoyed our stay at Les Hirondelles. There is plenty of space, it is well-equipped and very nicely presented. There is loads of outdoor space, including parking, and it is very private too. Our host Sophie was very informative and responsive; thank you! Seemingly never-ending deserted country roads made for some lovely bike rides. Highly recommended.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Les Hirondelles. We do decorate regularly and keep the decor up to date, my passion is for interior design. The size and privacy of our garden always surprises people, it’s really difficult to show on photos. Sophie

An ideal holiday 'home from home'

Set in an area which provides peace and quiet far from the crowded tourist centres, Les Hirondelles affords all the comforts of home. Every facility was first class and the standards of housekeeping extremely high. The welcoming basket was much appreciated. If you crave for sandy beaches they are a reasonable drive away, while the historical towns of Saintes and Pons were a short drive. Nearby towns furnished the usual shopping opportunities although it was noticeable that the supermarkets were having the usual effect on the small shops. Royan was a reasonable drive away and the market there is worth a visit for the local produce. We had a week of superb weather which made it an even more memorable stay.

Lovely site, well equipped

Pictures of interior need to be updated. Most people decide on site based on photos on website. The interior furnishing had changed from the current pictures shown. Owner should make it clear that towels and bedding are not changed if you are staying for 2 weeks. It would have been no problem to take own towels if known. There was a washer/drier at the site but honestly, whilst on holiday, we did not want to wash and dry towels and bed linen midway through our holiday. The site was well stocked with good quality kitchenware items. The welcome pack was also great to find. Overall, a very comfortable and well maintained site, well worth a visit.

Thank you for your honest review. After establishing with you that the rug had been removed (for the summer) and arm chairs had changed since the website photos we will take new photos today to update. We will also offer a change of linen if required as per your suggestion. We do try to offer everything that you might need for a holiday cottage in a beautiful decor. We are glad that otherwise you enjoyed the Gite and that you would return.

A gorgeous house - so completely peaceful and relaxing. Check in was easy, just collect the keys from the key box. The kitchen was well equipped and wi-fi access excellent. The garden is just wonderful and our little dog loved that it was completely enclosed and he could wander freely. The laundry room is a boost and I can't fault the cleanliness of the house at all. Les Epeaux is in the middle of nowhere (which is what we wanted) so to travel anywhere you need a car. Meursac has a nice little bar and a co-op which was handy - it is walkable but not in full sun in July! We liked Saintes, a Roman town with an Amphitheatre, an arch and baths - all a nice walk. It has nice shops, a lovely river to wander down and you can let a dog off a lead on the circular walk that starts from the pedestrian bridge. We also liked Talmont which is full of artisan shops and good places to eat and drink. Overall, we loved our stay and we would return if we decided we needed a complete break again - it was great to switch off, read, relax and drink far too much wine! :-)

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and loved our large fenced garden. We’re sorry that you found that the 3 seater sofa wasn’t large enough for the two of you and that the bed wasn’t firm enough. It is a deep sprung medium firm mattress, but as you say it is a matter of taste. We had a small leak in the roof above the twin room which was repaired the week before you arrived which may explain some residual mold on a wall. We were at the Gite before you and prepared if for your arrival leaving hours before you arrived; and it didn’t smell musty when we left. However we will of course look into this as a priority. Kind regards Sophie and Richard
