About this property

Edwardian Terraced Home

Nestled within a charming and historic neighbourhood, this delightful house was originally constructed in 1910, offering a timeless appeal that blends classic architecture with modern comfort. Situated in a peaceful network of cul-de-sacs on the west side of the River Exe, the property enjoys a serene and private setting, away from the hustle and bustle of busy streets. The surrounding area is predominantly residential, characterised by well-maintained homes, lush greenery, and a welcoming community atmosphere. Despite being located within the heart of the city, the neighbourhood remains remarkably quiet and tranquil, thanks to the clever layout of the cul-de-sacs which effectively minimise through traffic and noise. At the end of the road, a picturesque park provides a perfect spot for leisurely walks, outdoor activities, or simply relaxing amidst nature. This green space adds to the neighbourhood's appeal, offering residents and visitors alike a peaceful retreat just moments from their doorstep. We bought the house way back in the last Millenium. It was home to us and two children, now both grown up, both of whom went to the nearby primary school. We chose it because it is very quiet because there is no through traffic; it is a cul-de-sac surrounded by other cul-de-sacs. It is very close to the centre of town, a 20 minute walk away. You can easily escape Exeter from there, too, by just heading west up Cowick St, and 20 minutes in a car you're wending your way through the impressive Dartmoor National Park. The River Exe is 5 minute walk away, and if you like a walk or a cycle, you can head to the coast on either side of the river, some 13 miles away. If I were you, I'd stop for coffee at the Quay, get a beer at the Double Locks, and top that up with another at the Turf Locks accompanied by a pub lunch. We still consider it a home, and that is what we are offeriing; a temporary second home, not an identikit hotel room, in an area ideal for families.
