" Views to die for...." said a guest review about the truly STUNNING VIEWS from Hillcrest cottage, make it "one of those places which stay in your memories for ever" (from another guest).
The views really are impressive from all rooms, but are especially expansive from the bedroom balcony. The views alone will set this cottage apart from all others.
The original house was once one of 22 toll houses in the countryside around Stroud, and then it was a bakery. The cottage was built in Cotswolds stone next to the main house to fully take advantage of the the views.
The cottage is well equipped and stylishly decorated in a contemporary rustic style. As well as full central heating, it has a cosy log burner in the lounge, as well as enjoying 3 sets of double doors opening onto the balcony and garden for balmy summer days too. Watching the sunsets from the romantic balcony with a glass of wine is quite special!
If a picture says a thousand words, I hope these pictures of Hillcrest cottage show the enormity of the incredible view and help show why this cottage will make your stay quite unique experience.
A spacious , light and airy main bedroom includes a comfortable king-size bed with choice of hard and softer pillows and a large white corner sofa for relaxing at the end of the day. Stepping out onto the main bedroom balcony is quite special,by days and totally romantic by night.
THE TWIN BEDDED ROOM also has pocket sprung mattresses and we dress it with a few accessories when little people stay, (happy children have happy parents)!
THE BATHROOM is white, simply furnished and has a shower over the bath with curved glass screen.
Downstairs there is plenty of holiday reading and best sellers should you want to relax with the log burner in the cosy lounge, (we supply the first basket of kindling and brickets.
KITCHEN /DINING (entrance door)
The large open plan kitchen-dining area is a flexible space. It has all the essentials including a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, iron, cafetiere, electric whisk, creamer , white crockery and large wine glasses etc!
In the summer it is lovely to be able to open the double doors from the lounge and kitchen/dining room onto a patio area and garden or drop down to the circular BBQ terrace....all with stunning views.
If there are specific items you require as a keen cook, please ask at booking and if we don't have already we will always do our best to supply those items before your stay.
We also supply a vintage crockery set for a traditional afternoon tea at the cottage.
We hope you are here to experience the area, so the cottage doesn't have massive TV's but it has a TV/ dvd with freeview and the bedroom tv is a smart tv too, plenty of recent paperbacks , i pod docking station.
The garden is well maintained. Down a few steps and you are on the sheltered circular BBQ terrace with quality garden furniture, a weber BBQ( takes charcoal) and a chiminea....It is a great place to eat as the sun goes down and the valley lights up against the night sky.
We hope you will make use of the traditional picnic wares available for days out from the cottage. This includes foldaway seats for you to use on days out.
There is driveway parking outside our cottage for one car .We do advise guests seeing each other out of the property as the Cotswolds stone walls can block views, especially on lower chassis cars. Further cars can park in the lane opposite or lay-by, nearby.
We, the owners live next door, & have 2 dogs Chester, who attends agility training so has several tricks to show you & the most gentle Tula rescued from Cyprus too. We ask prospective guests to let s know before booking if they have any concerns. No pets are permitted in the cottage!
THE GARDEN & BBQ
The garden is well maintained all year and has herbs in the borders for culinary flavourings. Down a few steps is the circular BBQ area with a large round table and chairs to enjoy those wrap around views.
Most guests say "WOW" on arrival and how much they will miss them on departure.
We do whatever we can to ensure guests enjoy their stay. Our aim is to create the experience we would like when we go away!
