The village is situated in tranquil countryside and offers easy access to individually mapped footpaths and bridleways perfect for rambling and cycling. Nearby Rutland Water offers a variety of water based activities including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing as well as being well placed for cycling, walking and bird watching. Famous people to have lived in the village include William Law (1686-1761), a prominent theologian and author, and Miles Joseph Berkeley (1803-1889) who studied the many species of fungi to be found in the vicinity of Kings Cliffe and is regarded as the founder of Plant Pathology.
