Cave accommodation in Cappadocia with stunning views over valleys and Mt. Argeus
The lodge is located on the heights of Pigeon Valley in the town of Uchisar. It offers views over Cappadocia landscape. Argeus Mountain is visible when the weather is clear. The property has a connection with a tunnel network under the region. It is possible to walk in the tunnels and discover the amazing work humans did once upon a time. It is unknown when the tunnel network was dug. But archaeological evidence suggests that Hittites lived in the area. Hittites had learned how to cast iron tools from a previous Anatolian civilization called Hattis who were using iron tools back in the 3rd millenium BC. However the iron tools were not widely used until the iron age started in the 13th Century BC. Although there is a possibilty that the tunnel network was dug by the Hittites it might also be created or enlarged any time. Such as Early Christian times when Christians were hiding themselves in safe places. The place is in the heart of the ancient Cappadocia with interesting rock dug churches being at walking distance. The restorations in the property were carried out carefully. The rooms offer good ventilation. Due to our concern for environmental issues we use natural materials in our rooms, serve vegetarian meals and recycle almost everything.
