Hale Kai in Hawaiian means “ocean house” as there are spectacular views of the coastline and a white sand beach from every room. This home sleeps four with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and laundry facilities. It has a spacious kitchen and dining area and comes with cable T.V., DVD, stereo, and a fully equipped kitchen. King and 2 twin beds. Air conditioning for bedrooms and living room!

Our 30th anniversary trip

Beautiful house and beach. Access is central to all the good stuff Kaua’i has to offer. By far our best trip to the islands because the house and private beach are so amazing.

Dream Location!

I've never stayed at a place with such an amazing location. It was expensive and worth every penny. Not only are you on the beach in a quieter area of the south shore, but can easily walk to the market or shops for anything you need or dinner. Yoga on the lawn, sea turtle on the beach daily. Just a lovely place overall for a dream vacation. Bed, couch and other furniture could be more comfortable, but the sound of the ocean helps drown out those minor things.

Magical stay

This wonderful beach house was perfect for our family of four. We spent hours on the lanai, staring at the ocean, and even more hours a few feet down on the beach. The photos are great, but do not even do it justice. It is just beautiful there. The home was very comfortable, well equipped and extremely well managed, and we will definitely be back. Thank you for an outstanding stay!

Close to a perfect stay

The view from every room in the house is spectacular. The proximity to the water/beach is unbelievable. The long lanai is perfect for hanging out, with plenty of outdoor furniture (table, chairs, chaise lounges), and beach gear. The kitchen and bathrooms are well-stocked. We rather enjoyed the resident chickens with their wake up calls. There are only two things that marred an otherwise perfect stay: 1) the house has only 4 beach towels and the management indicated that it is the limit after we asked for more. So, if you have a beach day, go to dinner and have a boat/scuba type tour where you need towels early next morning, it is a little stressful to have to remember to squeeze in laundry (on vacation, and they have a no washer/dryer policy after 10PM). 2) I got eaten alive our last night of our stay during the night- approximately 20+ bites, and by the pattern of the bites, it seemed to be bedbugs. I told the management and they responded with concern, indicating that they would have maintenance check it out. We had two sightings of waterbugs/roaches but I know that it isn't all that unusual so close to the water. Prior to and at the time of check-in, I inquired about a mid-stay cleaning service that I could pay for, but the management never got back to me.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of Hale Kai is unbeatable: a quiet stretch of a little beach with mostly gentle surf and awesome sunset views. The bedrooms were large and comfortable each with a bathroom and access to a large lanai. The kitchen was fully equipped with new appliances and all the dishes and cutlery you will ever need. Large Washer and Dryer appear new and can handle full loads (plenty of detergent was provided) if you need it. It's also right down the road from a nice shopping center with restaurants, shops and a Longs Drug store. We loved staying here! It was the 3rd time we stayed at Baby Beach (Hale Ohe and Stonehouse previously). GIR staff were great - checking in often to make sure everything was going well and to see if we needed anything. Was it slick and fancy? Not really. Was it comfortable with a solid Hawaiian vibe? Yes!

Cozy cottage

This was such a peaceful bungalow with the ocean as your front yard. Everything was wonderful, we would definitely come back to this place again. There is A/C in each bedroom and in the main room but we only used the one in the bedroom and enjoyed the breezes coming off the ocean. We saw a giant green sea turtle come up on the beach right in front of the house one day but I would not say this is a great spot to snorkel out front but is still a great beach and a perfect area for little babes to play in the water. Here is a strange, albeit important point for those of you who the bugs love - every time we go anywhere, I am covered in bug bites while my husband is completely unscathed but not the case here! I didn’t have to use bug spray one time, there was just enough breeze to keep them at bay. Made my week! Mahalo for an amazing stay.

However, the maintenance on this property is poor due to (as explained by the management co) only having 4 hours between bookings to fix. When we arrived the bathroom door to our bathroom was broken, the Washing machine did not work, the main over head light and fan in the living room did not work. Also, the door to the utility area was broken. Additionally, we discovered, the irrigation runs everyday between 6 - 8 am so you cannot get to the beach without getting soaked, the deck get's sprayed in several places during breakfast so back away from the edges and be sure the bbq is covered. There is no outdoor shower. The box of beach things contained 2 sets of broken fins, and 4 beach chairs.It appears all condiments and spices are removed between guests so buy sugar, salt and pepper and any othe spices you need to cook with. ( We usually buy in Lihue on our way from the Airport so it would have been nice to know before we got there.) It really is a nice place but also a bit disappointing.

The house was one of the cleanest vacation rentals I have ever stayed in including a spotless grill-which is a tough thing to accomplish after a busy summer. We had one minor issue we needed assistance with and Garden Island Rentals sent someone over to help us out and took care of the issue. The pictures speak for themselves as far as the location-just steps to the beach! There were sea turtles at the end of the beach most days which was a nice bonus-they're not bison in Yellowstone so we didn't try to pet or ride them! There is ample outdoor seating on the lanai that was all in like-new condition as well. This was our third time staying with Garden Island Rentals and will definitely be back again. We had rented the same condo the last two trip and this house was well worth the upgrade. We would have already rebooked for next year but we are traveling to Alaska next year, so that will have to wait for 2025.

Great home

We loved everything about this home and will definitely be back! Sunsets are a perfect 10!!!! Only thing I would suggest is the beach out front is very rocky so I’d bring water shoes. We ended up running to Walmart (20 min away) and bought some for $10! Mornings were peaceful and quiet. We can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

Beautiful Kauai Rental

Management absolutely wonderful. Very responsive. House is close to shops, restaurants and a number of snorkel/surf spots. You can actually do a little snorkeling right on Baby Beach. Needed to take recycling items to bins at Brennake Beach… super easy.

Perfect house, location & amenities. 5th time to Kauai -,first time at this wonderful home wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else next trip. House has a warm welcoming feel, stocked with everything you need to enjoy the ocean. Unbelievable view, great sunsets, nice uncrowded beach. Management company attentive.
