Edgetts Lodge

You won’t see Edgetts Lodge at first. You will see the big sign carved by a local artisan and the drive curving through 38 pristine and private acres of old-growth red pines. It takes a few minutes to get there, but when the lodge comes into view it is well worth the anticipation.

Built from the huge red pines taken right from the property, Edgetts Lodge is 5,100 square feet of hand hewn rustic log luxury and sky scraping windows. It sits high above a riverbank with a breathtaking view of the Pine River; one of Michigan’s most beautiful and unspoiled blue-ribbon trout streams.

Edgetts Lodge property runs on both sides of the river and the Pine is designated as a “Federal Wild and Scenic River” - rated one of the Mid-West’s best for kayaking and canoeing. You will see white tail deer, wild turkeys and even bald eagles in the forest. The lodge property is good for all seasons activities: trout fishing, angling, hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing to name a few…

As you enter the lodge, it will feel like you have come home – the perfect combination of indoor comfort and wraparound porches and decks. The lacquered pine walls, the trophies and special details: you are bathed in the golden glow. On the first floor, there is a spacious great room with a stone fireplace, a gourmet kitchen, formal dining room and a master suite with private balcony. Downstairs is a fully equipped, ground floor game-room with a cozy, fieldstone fireplace and a separate “bunkhouse” bedroom and bathroom.

The upper floor boasts a second master suite and private balcony, a family room with built-in media room and large screen TV and two additional, multi bunk bedrooms (known affectionately as the Bear Room and the Moose Room).

All in all, Edgetts Lodge sleeps 23 comfortably. There is a game closet, a laundry room, 3 ½ bathrooms and panoramic views of the Pine River and the surrounding woods. Whether you are a family celebrating a milestone birthday or anniversary; a group of friends getting away from it all; or couples on a romantic holiday, the Lodge is the place to call “home” for a week or a weekend.

Why Mark Slavsky chose Tustin

This property has been in my family for over 60 years. It also has an old trappers cabin on it that we used before the Lodge was built. Edgetts Lodge was completed in 2006.

What makes this lodge unique

You will enjoy a trip back in time during your visit to Edgetts Lodge. Modeled after a 19th century Log Mansion common to upstate New York in the 1800's, you will find yourself surrounded by rustic luxury on this 38 acre private estate.

Guestbook comments from the owner

17 friends and myself enjoyed Memorial weekend at the Lodge, and what a trip it was! The view is breathtaking, as is the Lodge . To say the home is Beautiful, is an understatement . The Lodge is also fully equipped , my entire group never had to run to the store for anything ! The entertainment room in the basement allowed for some late night poker games, foosball, and ping pong, while others enjoyed one of the two fire pits . There was plenty of room for everyone to feel comfortable at all times . To top it off Mark the owner and Doug the on-site caretaker were wonderful to work with , ensuring my group a terrific get away . I highly recommend this cabin for a family or friend retreat .

Magnificent views from a well built luxury home!

  • 5 of 5

As a four time returnee to Edgett’s Lodge, I can not say enough wonderful things about this place! The layout of Lodge is lovely. One walks into a gorgeous entry that flows right into a magnificent great room with floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the Pine River. The wide open kitchen allows many people in to work at once. The dining area is also designed for a large group. The bedrooms are spacious and there are plenty of bathrooms.

We vacation at Edgett’s Lodge yearly with a group of other professionals and our tween age kids from Ann Arbor, MI. It has become a tradition for us now. We take advantage of Caberfae Peaks during the day, make dinner together in the wide open kitchen in the evenings and then sit by the fire or put together puzzles in the great room. The kids love to play ping pong and cards in the finished basement. This year we even ventured out at dark and made a fire by the riverside fire pit and roasted s’mores.

Mark has been a very kind owner and allowed us to arrival a day early and leave late this year. He is very responsive to our communicate with him and we felt cared for during our stay. We will be renting again next year!

Never Disappoints!

  • 5 of 5

This is our fifth time at Edgetts Lodge, and each time the experience exceeds our expectations. From the great staff, wonderful pre-trip communication to the beauty of the winter-scape - this is a northern Michigan paradise! Plenty to do in the area for recreation, or for those who go in the winter - plenty to do if you just want to stay cozied up indoors. The best compliment I can give it is - it will make you feel as though you are at home. Thanks Mark, Doug and Julie - we will see you again!

Another perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

I am running out of things to say and words to describe this Lodge and the atmosphere of peace, beauty and wonder. I had a smaller group this year of high school teens but still the place was perfect! Laughter filled flowed from the loft as the teens laughed and played games. The fire roared all weekend filling the place with warmth. Mark is an amazing owner and Doug, the caretaker is only a phone call away. I recommend Edgetts Lodge to anyone looking for a place a getaway with family and friends. It's large enough to sleep and accommodate many people, spacious enough for everyone to have their own space yet somehow cozy enough to feel quiet and intimate. It was a great weekend and already I am looking forward to next year's visit. Thank you Mark!!

Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at the lodge. Very comfortable sitting areas for the family to spread out and relax. Wonderful view of the Pine River. The toy/game closet was a big hit with both kids and adults. The only issue was that family members over 6 foot didn't fit on the full-side beds.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay Annette. However I wish you would have mentioned the issue with your guests over 6 ft. tall and our beds. We have several queens and a king bed that easily accommodate very tall guests and I could have told you which bedrooms they are in. For example, the new Queen bed in the balcony bedroom will fit a 6 and 1/2 foot guest with ease and it was specifically ordered for that reason. Please remember to ask before your next visit;-)

Everybody wants to come back

  • 5 of 5

What started as a quick getaway for the guys turned into a family vacation as it became apparent the house could sleep so many. There were no pictures of the bedrooms, so I was unsure that it could actually sleep 25. When we got to Edgetts Lodge, everyone was wowed by the house and the surroundings. It very comfortably slept 20 of us with no one sleeping on a couch or floor, and there were beds to spare. What is normally a cold time of year ended up being between 70° and 75° F, allowing us to go fishing and hiking with everyone. The little boys loved the house and the property. Just their enjoyment alone made the trip wonderful. Thank you, Mark for building such an incredible home and allowing us to use it!

Very rustic and private location yet we are only 20 miles from Cadillac which has every convenience a big city can offer from Wal-Mart to sushi bars and 5 star restaurants. A small grocery store is only 3 miles away in Bristol.
