About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Bear's Cabin is a charming genuine log home surrounded by woods and situated in a small grouping of homes at Hidden Dunes on quiet and pristine Goshorn Lake in Saugatuck, MI. Centrally located, this large (four bedroom, 1,750 square feet) home is the perfect place to relax while exploring Saugatuck's beaches and many other attractions that this quaint resort town has to offer. The cabin has brand new furnishings, is very well appointed, and has a wonderful scent of pine. Enjoy the delightful Saugatuck summer season or book an off-season stay in order to enjoy colorful fall foliage, hiking, golfing, or cross country skiing.

Hidden Dunes' beachfront and dock on a bay of the clear, serene, no-wake Goshorn Lake are available for your enjoyment. Kick off your shoes and walk to the top of the dune to take in the beautiful vistas of the lake. Oval Beach, ranked as one of top shorelines in the United States, and Saugatuck Dunes State Park, are both nearby.

Use the cabin's large screened-in porch for meals, conversation, and for enjoying the lingering twilight hours. Before drifting off to sleep, unwind in the whirlpool tub in the upstairs bath. The house features central air, a wood-burning fireplace, and a washer and dryer for guest use. A gas grill and 4 bicycles (2 adult and 2 teen/preteen) are at your disposal.

Goshorn Lake is the perfect setting for swimming, canoeing, and fishing. The fine shops, restaurants, and art galleries of downtown Saugatuck are only a few minutes away. Only ten miles down the road is Holland, Michigan, home to Hope College and the famous Tulip Time Festival. Visit Holland's scenic Lake Macatawa resort area, beautiful State Park, and wonderful downtown selection of upscale shops, microbrewery, and restaurants.

Renters will need to bring soaps and personal items. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, pillows, and blankets. For your convenience, we have linens and towels on site for guest use. Guests are limited to 8 and only two vehicles may be kept at the property. Nearby off-site parking available for additional vehicles.

About Drake Van Beek

I attended college in the area and grew to love the surrounding area. I particularly like the beaches and the resort feel of the towns of Saugatuck and Holland. Summer sunsets here can't be beat.

Drake Van Beek purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Drake Van Beek chose Saugatuck

A great location; it's surrounded by sand dunes and trees and only steps away from Goshorn Lake. You can walk or bike the two miles to Saugatuck on a paved path.

What makes this cabin unique

The setting is beautiful - the cabin is nestled between woods and sand dunes and is a minute walk from a bay of Goshorn Lake. Renters have access to a pier and beach front and can climb the bay's 'mini' sand dune to catch a great view of Goshorn Lake and the surrounding unspoiled dunes. Previous renters have commented on how quiet the setting is and how convenient it is to the town of Saugatuck and Oval Beach. Good golf courses are also nearby. The setting is truly unique.

Cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

The property is just like you would expect from the owner's VRBO description. And, that's a compliment. If anything, I was happily surprised at the privacy. Considering it's location to Saugatuck, I figured it would be less private. Overall, excellent house to rent.

This cabin is a great way to enjoy nature with amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this cabin! My husband and I were there for four out of six nights and we accommodated six plus a grandchild for two nights. The setting is quiet and beautiful except for an occasional dune buggy ride which is fun to watch. However, there is the option of staying connected to the rest of the 21st century world with wifi, two cable TVs, and plenty of outlets. We loved the front and screened back porches. The bikes enabled us to ride a wonderful trail to Holland. This cabin a perfect family or romantic getaway.

Friendly and responsible owner

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time use VRBO and a little bit anxious about reservation process. The Owner always quickly response our questions and provided all detail documents to explain the process and things to know. When we checked in, the owner was checking few things around the cabin and make sure that we stay there comfortable. We all had pleasant time.

Love Saugatuck Great spot to stay

  • 5 of 5

Rented for a couple nights for a leadership get away. Cabin was immaculate. Location is great. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and entertaining. Enjoyed building a fire in the working fireplace when it started raining outside

Wonderful extended family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a relaxing extended family vacation with grandparents, two adult children, spouses, and three grandchildren (2 1/2, 3 1/2, and 6) for the week. Couldn't have asked for better weather and beach days. Cabin worked out very well for everyone with enough space for sleeping, eating, and relaxing. Perfect location with easy access to Goshorn Lake for fishing, dune buggy rides, bike trail for easy ride into Saugatuck, bike rides to get ice cream, and short drive to Oval Beach. Fun to wander in downtown Saugatuck shops. Ate at Mermaid on the river for lunch. Wonderful dinners at Marro's Italian Restaurant and Saugatuck Brewing Co. Took a ride on the chain ferry across the river. Great family gathering spot. Property was clean and well maintained. Appreciated the bikes provided. Bonus of air hockey and ping pong in the basement!!

Bear's Cabin

  • 4 of 5

A nice log home in a quiet area close to Goshen Lake. The home has nice furniture and fit our family well. The owner is easy to work with. Golf and Oval Beach are a short drive. There are great restaurants in downtown Saugatuck,, as well as, Douglas. Great area to spend time and make memories.
