LOCATION: This ideally located, spacious, well-appointed bright home with two family rooms, two master bedroom suites, two-story screened porch with sunset views of coastal wetlands is just steps to the beach! Enjoy the close proximity to the beach, or venture out walking or biking. The house is a short bike ride to the Cape May Ferry, the historic district and the marina. Walk to get ice cream at Dairy Queen, Dipps or go into town for shopping, restaurants and enjoy some history of the First Town in the First State on Second Street. Hop on the Breakwater Trail to tour breweries and eat oysters along the way, ride to Rehoboth or bird-watch along the canal.

The Lewes and Clark Beach House layout makes it easy for family and friends relax and gather on the first floor together or in two separate living areas. The open living room/dining/kitchen centers activity between the dining room table, adjoining the chef’s kitchen, bay-window reading nook, and the fireplace. The family TV room, closes off and has a 48” TV and full-sized sofa sleeper. The well-equipped kitchen has stainless steel appliances, granite counters, 5-seat breakfast bar and 5 burner gas stove with warming drawer and two ovens. The kitchen exits to screened porch and gas grill on deck. Seating for up to 19 at mealtime in dining room, breakfast bar and screened porch.

The main living area has gourmet kitchen with open-living kitchen suite, breakfast bar, dining area and living room, with first floor TV room, full-sized sleeper sofa, and half-bath.

Retreat to the four upstairs bedrooms with three full baths and screened in porch. (Two bedrooms are private master suites with full baths).

Sprawling open living first floor:

Enter through front door and you have a choice of two relaxing living spaces: The family room with 48” wall mounted flat screen tv with 500+ channels, DVD player, books, and full sized pull out sofa bed or the larger room with open kitchen, dining and living room with fireplace, screened-in porch, with eating area and gas grill on deck.

Return from the beach entering from the back deck, after using the outdoor shower and dropping gear in the garage. Then grab a cold drink or snack from the second refrigerator or pantry in the laundry room. The first floor also has a half-bath.

The owners purchased the property after falling in love with the Bay sunset and enjoying the family-style fun - swimming, paddle-boarding, fishing, biking, hiking and all of this is 150 feet from the house.

The atmosphere in Lewes is family friendly. If you like history, the outdoors, and retreating from business, Lewes is for you.

This house can accommodate multiple families, as we enjoy vacationing with friends and family and hope you will too!

The Lewes and Clark Beach House is in Lewes Beach, East of the Canal.

The Cape May Lewes Ferry and Henlopen State Park are 1.5 miles from the house. Historic Lewes, is the 1st Town in the 1st State, was settled by the Dutch in 1631 and incorporated in 1863.

Lewes is known for its bay and ocean beaches, fishing marinas, swimming and water sports of all kinds. It has a rich history Nearby, Fort Miles is home to the 261st Coast Artillery. In 1941 it was one of the largest and most heavily armed costal fortifications in the U.S. There are two WWII observation towers at Cape Henlopen.

Outdoor enthusiasts: Besides the calling of the sea, there are many other opportunities to get out and enjoy Lewes and its surroundings.

For the bike and craft brew enthusiast, there are many craft breweries and seafood restaurants accessible by bike. The birdwatchers, bikers and hikers all enjoy the Junction and Breakwater trail, that is approximately a 15 miles loop through Rehoboth, along the canal, returning to Lewes. The trail is also accessible by wheelchair.

Fishing: Surf fishing is allowed on local Cape Henloopen State Park. Delaware waters usually require fishing permits. Lewes is home to a marina on the canal, which has chartered fishing trips.

Southern Delaware is home to over 25 miles of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and the Delaware Bay, 12 miles of which are state parks, including Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, and Fenwick Island State Park. The ferry takes 45 minutes to get from Lewes to Cape May.
