About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

All the joys of lakeside living can be yours at this art-filled, Mid-century modern Lake Sammamish home that’s built for entertaining; it boasts 3,600 square feet of airy, contemporary space and 75 feet of shoreline, surrounded by serene gardens and a stream.

Paddle a kayak along the shores of this gorgeous, 8-mile-long lake that’s renowned for water sports and swimming; the water warms to 75 degrees July through September. The home’s 80-foot-long dock lets you get right out to where the action is. Enjoy the views from the window-walled Great Room with its treetop ambiance, or gather on the terrace with its festive boathouse–turned–bar, professional Lynx outdoor grill and hot tub. And when evening comes, be entertained in the lakeside Media Room.

The home’s setting, in Bellevue, only 25 minutes east of downtown Seattle (and 10 minutes from the Microsoft Redmond campus) means you can be in a sophisticated cityscape in mere minutes to enjoy top-notch museums; dynamic attractions such as the Pike Place Market, the Space Needle and the waterfront; some of the best cuisine in the country; upscale shopping; and vibrant nightlife. When you’re finished with your urban fun, you can return to your own wooded lakeside escape, surrounded by lush gardens and a gently flowing stream.

With an open plan, art-filled living room and elegant, contemporary kitchen, the spaces in this home are gracious and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped, with an 11-foot granite prep island, a 36” professional gas Thermador cooktop with grill, a Dacor convection wall oven and convection microwave, and a 36-inch sub-zero refrigerator; it’s tastefully stocked with attractive dining and serving ware, and an abundance of high-quality cookware and baking implements. Downstairs, the Media Room has a 65-inch plasma TV with 5.1 surround sound.

Five bedrooms, including a Master Suite and a private-entrance Patio Suite, offer a wide variety of sleeping accommodations. The Master Suite has a tranquil, tree house ambiance, with a lake view framed by graceful ornamental maples, and the sounds of the murmuring stream through open windows, while the Patio Suite has French doors that open to a patio flanked by lush foliage with a view to the lake.

A balcony leads off the kitchen to a spiral staircase that steps down to the garden level, which can also be accessed by stairs leading down from the main floor. The upper terrace is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped Northwest-style garden with a stream flowing through it, and the Jacuzzi here overlooks the lake. On the lower terrace, the boathouse has a supplemental kitchen and bar, with a professional Lynx outdoor grill and two dining tables, one on the terrace, the other on a deck near the water. The broad lake terrace is surrounded by lush plantings, and gives way to the dock.

The five bedrooms are beautifully appointed, with pillow-top mattresses and high-end, hotel-quality linens; amenities include luxurious towels and bathrobes. A supplemental kids’ room has a loft-style queen-size bed and the ambiance of a secret hiding spot. A crib is available, as well. Sleeps 10-12.

• The Master Suite, on the main floor, features a king-size bed, an en suite bathroom and treetop lake views.

• The Garden Bedroom, downstairs, has a king-size bed and a wall of windows that let in the light and views of the lake, gardens and stream; French doors open to the garden.

• The Patio Suite, downstairs, has a queen-size bed and an en suite bath, with a private entrance; French doors open to a private patio framed by trees.

• The Lakeside Bedroom, downstairs, has a queen-size bed and large windows overlooking the lake and gardens, with French doors offering outdoor access.

• The Queen Bedroom, on the main floor, is a tranquil space adjacent to the main bathroom.

Beautiful Lake Home in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This well designed, contemporary style lake house is an incredible find! The kitchen includes upscale appliances and every cooking/fixing/serving piece imaginable. The owner, Brian, left every staple we needed to make gourmet meals combined with our own purchased food. Accommodations are spectacular - 2 master suites and enough bedrooms to fit 11 of us. Bedding is upscale and comfortable. From the main room wall of windows (also from 3 bedrooms, main lower level, and kitchen), you view serene Lake Sammamish with mountains in the distance. You're also overlooking the beautifully landscaped yard (interesting, colorful plantings and walkways) and the patio with separate covered kitchen/bar including fridge and sink. We grilled out every day! A cool, circular outside iron staircase is a fun way to take you from upper to lower level. There's plenty of comfortable seating in the yard and by the water. Fun to walk on the dock (many fish to view), and we enjoyed the included kayak and canoe. If you can bear to leave these spectacular and relaxing surroundings, downtown Seattle is an easy 20 minute drive. Also, the Salish Lodge for breakfast (Honey from Heaven can't be missed!!) and the spectacular Snoqualmie Falls is a quick 20 minutes. From there, Twin Falls (awesome hike, not too strenuous) is only 5 minutes away. From the home, you can also enjoy Woodinville (wine country) in 20 -25 minutes. We have family near the Canadian border - a beautiful 2 hour drive. Vancouver would even be drivable from this home! We missed going to Puget Sound (although we drove Chuckanut Drive - not to be missed), and didn't get to Mt. Rainier, but those are nearby also. If you're looking for a property that will comfortably hold a large family and/or group of friends that's located in the center of all activities and will allow you to relax and unwind in pristine surroundings, look no further. You can feel great about renting this home. Brian and his friend, Leslie, took great care and time to make our adventure special. They left wood in the fire pit by the water and even went grocery shopping for us due to our late evening arrival. They were helpful beyond belief, and their communication was great! Many things we did in the area were due to their suggestions - hikes, places to visit, places to avoid, parking, etc. Brian has obviously put lots of love and care into his property, and made us feel like royalty. I miss it already - wish we lived there! We will be back!!!

Peaceful Sanctuary and Lovely Vista

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful view from both levels! Early morning sunrises were spectacular! Well appointed with every convenience available including a state of the art sound system. Outdoor grill was a particular favorite. Comfortable, open floor plan with contemporary kitchen appliances. Quiet and removed location yet close to shopping and restaurants. We were there at year end and look forward to returning in warmer months to make maximum use of the lakeside recreational features. Owner was helpful and responsive providing information on arrival and as needed.

Owner's Response: Hi Lorez, Thank you for your kind review! We're so happy you and your family enjoyed our Lake Sammamish home. And it's great to hear that you were here for some of our beautiful sunrises on the lake. We are, indeed, fortunate to be so close to all the action in Bellevue, but tucked away in a private location. We hope you follow through on enjoying our home in warm weather, when the whole emphasis is on outdoor living and swimming. All our best, Brian and Leslie

Awesome place, pictures dont do it justice.

We loved our stay here. The owner is chill, and made us feel right at home. He followed up several times to make sure things were going ok and was very easy to deal with.

The house itself is exceptional. Perfect setup for big family vacations like ours. The lake is so warm, and a ton of fun! Would re-book here in a heartbeat.

My favorite vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at this property for four years and every time my family, friends and I go we love it more. This year I stayed in and cooked every night for all our visitors and we had the best time. We sit outside every night and enjoy the view of the lake and listen to nice music and just talk and laugh. The home has 5 bedrooms and they are always very clean! The kitchen is well stocked for a party with more wine glasses than you could ever need. I love my time on the lake and I would highly recommend this property.

Great Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

Our granddaughter was in the national Girls Under Fourteen Soccer Tournament in Kirkland so we decided to rent this lake house for a week and invite our other grandchildren for a mini family reunion. We were six adults and six teenagers which is more than what the house says it will accommodate, but it worked. Two of the boys slept on air mattresses in the separate boat house.

And what a great time we had! The house had good wifi and a Sonos sound system - great assets when you have teenagers. But the lake was the main attraction and they spent most of their time in the water. The kayak was very popular but the canoe was a more of a challenge and created some very humorous moments. Two of the boys were fisherman and went out on the dock everyday and caught fish every time - it was catch and release.

They also managed to talk the neighbor into going tubing behind his ski boat. Next time I think I would splurge and rent a boat for the week. At I found a company that would put a ski boat in the lake for us - expensive and does require some advance planning.

But enough about the teenagers. The adults also thoroughly enjoyed the house with its decor, views of the lake, and relaxing patio. We did go sightseeing one day in Seattle, but after that we all agreed we just wanted to enjoy the lake house.

If our granddaughter's team gets invited back next year we will definitely rent this house again.
