Very beautiful, private and comfortable
We were a family of 16 staying at this lovely villa. It was very well equipped; enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and barbecue. A bathroom attached to every bedroom was a huge plus, plus an air conditioner in every room. Managers attending the property were always available and quickly responded to any of our needs. Close to a magnificent beach with white sand and warm sea. Town square had many stores for eating or purchasing clothing or souvenirs. I booked this property 1 year ahead of our trip and very pleased I did. Can’t go wrong with this fabulous villa!
Sumptuous Sicilian Retreat
Stunning elevated position providing sea views and the utmost privacy, approached along a private gated drive and just a 5/10 minute drive from the Mediterranean Sea.
Rosario the owner has been a pleasure to deal with, helpful at all times, really understands how to look after his guests. His friend Salvo is now our friend! From organising a private boat excursion to our final day in a luxury retreat with a pool as we had an evening flight, nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile :) Lots of interesting towns within a 30 minute drive including Ragusa Ibla and Modica and nearby Marina di Ragusa with a sandy beach and huge choice of restaurants - a fish lovers paradise! This part of Sicily is less well known to UK residents although I would thoroughly recommend this destination for a more continental holiday style. Rosario and Salvo, a heart felt thank you from all the family, a memorable trip for all the right reasons! :)
Great place !!
Beautiful home, very quiet, but still great location.
Rosario, the owner, was very responsive. Quick check in. Would recommend this property
Great venue for a holiday with friends
Just returned from a 10 day holiday at the Villa , we were lucky with the weather and really lucky with the Villa, it was great for a large group, we were all able to find space to do our own thing or to meet up by the pool or the terrace or the tennis courts, the perfect mix in fact. The Villa is set in its grounds that are large enough to be used to run a few circuits or just for a gentle stroll. There was plenty of wildlife to keep the "younger" members of the party engaged (Horse, Chickens and Fish). As previous reviews have mentioned, you need a car in order to get anywhere, we risked the walk once and it was not a pleasant experience. Probably worth mentioning that the area itself is not geared towards tourists, whilst at first this may seem a bit disconcerting, after a few days it becomes endearing, if you want anything you have to search for it, the word we all came to that describes the area is "authentic". Several of the party fell in love with both Ragusa and Modicia definitely worth a visit. There are a few things that you need to know, they may come across as negative and i apologise for that, it is my intention to inform. The Villa is sold as luxury and it truly is, the space and the facilities are perfect, however, some of the equipment is looking a bit tired and may be due for a refresh. We had issues with the flush on 3 of tghe 6 toilets, the kitchen equipment was a bit less than was required to cater for a large party and within the luxury price bracket i would have expected a daily cleaner and clean towels and sheets each day. Non of this got in the way of a really good holiday it is just my perception of what luxury means. The host Rosario was great and attentive, any problems were quickly resolved by his side kick Toninio, all in all a great holiday and would do it again
Great villa in a peaceful location
The villa is set in lovely grounds with pleasant views across to the sea and the local town. It's very peaceful and quiet.
The outdoor living area is very spacious and well shaded, with a large pool and tennis court as an added bonus (racquets provided). Inside, the villa is large and well appointed with air con in every room.
Whilst the local roads are not safe to walk (making a car essential) you are well placed from there to explore several unspoilt beach resorts and beautiful historical hill villages and towns. Nearby Marina di Ragusa has many good restaurants and excellent beaches.
We had a great holiday and would highly recommend Villa Ganzeria.
What an enjoyable experience!
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Villa La Ganzeria. What made it really special was the villa itself with its adjoining swimming pool. The villa was spectacular in design, beautifully decorated, really comfortable and so well appointed. It was extraordinarily well equipped with a huge emphasis on detail. It had a superb kitchen inside with a second one nearby which adjoined the outside barbecue.
The accommodation was ideal for our group. We were a party of twelve and there was plenty of space and privacy for everybody. The leisure/recreation facilities were exceptional and the whole area was so well laid out - it provided us with lots of opportunities to eat both inside and outside. The bedrooms were a delight.
When we arrived, there wasn't a hair out of place. Rosario and Alessandra were so helpful throughout.
Punta Secca is , a small village in the Province of Ragusa, the most beautiful part of the south-eastern coast of Sicily and the ideal place to spend your holiday. It is just between golden sandy beaches and low cliffs, which appear in the film set of the TV series “Il Commissario Montalbano”.
Punta Secca is a typical fishing village, which was an old Arab port facing the African Sea. It has wonderful sunny weather but not too hot in summer and a mild climate in the winter months. Autumn and spring are particularly pleasant, especially the months of April, May, September and October when Sicilian nature is at its best and the seaside villages return to their peace and quiet, after the busy summer months. During this period it is possible to enjoy nice excursions and go trekking inland.
The golden sandy beaches of Punta Secca are all free of charge and safe, and are surrounded by low cliffs on the West and on the East. The old white lighthouse, built with dry stone at the beginning of the last century, dominates Punta Secca. This 40 meters lighthouse over towering the whole coastline is situated in the village main square.
The Province of Ragusa stretches out from the plateau to the sea showing beautiful carob and almond trees, picturesque dry stonewalls and the austerity of the typical farmhouses, “le masserie”.
The local cuisine is a most exquisite welcome to the visitors, who can taste: ravioli, filled with ricotta, soft white unsalted Italian cheese, cavati, home-made pasta with tomato and meat sauce, the local aspic made with pork meat, home-made conserves, fruit, vegetables, and above all the ”Ragusano”, the most typical local cheese, and the fine wines from the Acate Valley. These are all D.O.C. products.
Furthermore, many religious festivals, which are still very important to the population, represent an important opportunity to get to know old unchanged traditions such as those concerning the Holy Week and other folk festivals of the twelve towns of the province.
There are many cultural and prestigious events such as classical theatre performances taking place every two years in the Greek Theater of Syracuse, the International Music Show “Ibla Grand Prize”, the Wine & Food Event “Cheese Art” and many fairs and festivals.
The important seaside resort of Marina di Ragusa is located just 5 km away from Punta Secca, it is provided with services and facilities for every need: banks, post offices, restaurants, discos, sport facilities and much more.
Along the coast at about 6 km, there is the nature reserve of the River Irminio, an unpolluted Mediterranean estuary oasis. The area around the river mouth with its wonderful sandy beaches is a hiding place for many species of birds. At about 3 km from Punta Secca towards the West, there is the big beach of Randello, a 2000 meters long sandy shore, where in the warm summer nights, sea turtles come to leave their eggs behind the woods, which can be considered a green lung for this part of the province and it is equipped with a picnic area.
The Province of Ragusa has recently been included by Unesco in the World Heritage List for its precious Baroque style buildings. It is literally a casket full of architectural, archaeological and naturalistic treasures.
There are numerous tourist attractions: the Baroque style towns of Ragusa, Modica and Scicli, the ruins of the Great Greece city of Kamarina, its famous museum, and the hinterland of the Hyblean Mountains, characterized by deep “gorges” and its typical wild Mediterranean undergrowth, populated with rare species. Last but not least, the extraordinary “Cava d’Ispica” Park, a deep canyon with evidence of a prehistoric past life and many nature beauties.
And in Ragusa the breathtaking Baroque quarter of Ibla, built on a hill, is like a jewel embellished with the splendid gems of Baroque architecture: the cathedral of San Giorgio, the many spectacular churches and all the stately homes.
Modica is built on the two sides of a valley with its imposing cathedral of San Giorgio and it is famous for its culinary traditions.
Finally, the Northern part of the Province, located on a limestone plateau is an interesting destination for visits to mountain villages, with its pleasant mountain bike paths, trekking routes and country lanes for horse riding.
Just outside the province of Ragusa you can visit: the capital of Baroque style architecture Noto, Syracuse and the famous Taormina, Agrigento, Piazza Armerina, Selinunte and Segesta. They can all be reached in just two hours by car or by public transport.
The most mysterious and fascinating tourist attraction of South Eastern Sicily is Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, whose beauty is really worthwhile seeing for the unforgettable emotions it can give you in every season of the year.
