Winery Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a girls winery weekend. There were 10 of us for 2 nights. The house was perfect. Plenty of room for everyone. House is well maintained and owner responded quickly with questions we had before we arrived.

Ladies Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying around the Finger Lakes for years and the Chalet was one of our best yet! The owner was flexible and took care of any questions we had immediately. The house was spotless and had the best stocked kitchen we have ever experienced. Lovely weekend!

Weekend with friends

  • 4 of 5

This place is great! Clean, well equipped, no complaints about this place! Very enjoyable! We were there for a Fall weekend of wine touring! We had a great time! not expect timely communication with the owner. I just received my cancelled deposit check after asking for it three times. In fact I had to cancel the check as I was afraid of never receiving it back. So I paid a fee to cancel my deposit check to be safe. So in reality it cost me a bit more. I would say if you are expected to pay in a timely fashion as we did, then your deposit should also be paid back in a timely way! The cleaner goes in after you leave giving the owner the ok that there is no damage and the check should be sent out ASAP! That is good business!

Awesome Getaway Home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at the Chalet lake house! Our group trip of nine friends for wine tours, food, and fun was greatly improved by the awesome home we stayed in for several days. The home was clean, comfortable, large, and had absolutely everything we could have needed! The owners were flexible with our dates and quite accommodating. We cooked at the house for several nights, and the kitchen was very well stocked. The large deck was perfect for eating al fresco, having a glass of wine, and enjoying the view. The fire pit was also a great addition! Each of the rooms was perfectly sized for our needs. The lake entrance, though a bit small, was well marked and good for a nice swim. The only downfall was the very steep gravel driveway. The walk up the hill through the vineyard was beautiful, and there were several nice wineries and farm stands within walking distance. We would certainly recommend this home for any groups looking for a well-stocked, clean, and comfortable home to rent for a Finger Lakes vacation. We had a wonderful time!

Owner's Response: What a kind review. I am so glad your group had a great time. Your group's flexibility allowed us to accommodate a young couple who was getting married in a nearby vineyard. Hope to see you again next year. I am sure there are some vineyards you haven't yet visited.

Great Home for a Group Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We booked the Hector Chalet for our weekend in the Fingerlakes celebrating my husband's 40th birthday. We had a group including us and 3 other couples. The house was a perfect fit for our needs. There's plenty of room. And, the house is obviously well cared for...very clean and well-maintained. The owner was so helpful throughout the process of booking our trip and was kind enough to allow us some flexibility on our check-in time on Friday.

The only drawback I can think of is that the basement section of the house had a slight musty odor when we first arrived. However, we came shortly after there had been a significant amount of rainfall in the area so it may have just been a matter of the dampness that can be expected afterwards. The dehumidifier was running when we arrived. And we no longer noticed the odor at all by the next day.

Be sure to walk down to the property's lake access. The owners provided very detailed directions in the welcome binder so you should be able to find it with no problem...and it was a lovely walk. Also, the deck is huge. We enjoyed sitting out there Saturday late afternoon after we had returned from some wine tastings. It was a great spot just to relax before heading out to dinner that night. The deck would be perfect for eating 'al fresco' as well. If we had been staying longer we definitely would have planned a night to stay in and do just that.

Speaking of eating, the house is just a few minutes drive from the Stone Cat Cafe. Several people had recommended it to us for dinner. Without that recommendation we would have just driven on by because it didn't look like much from the outside. But, if you're looking for delicious, local, organic cuisine with generous portions it's the place for you.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Hector Chalet. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay on Seneca Lake.
