Wonderful property

  • 4 of 5

The river was amazing and the area was very secluded. There was one cabin visible to the right but it was empty the entire time we were there. The cabin had everything we needed and was nice for a back woods cabin. But, don't expect five star cleanliness. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves outdoors relaxing by the river and spent two days fishing with some success.

Just, Wow!

  • 5 of 5

Both the property and the home seem even bigger in real life than the pictures. Quaint and well kept, the inside was cozy and had everything you could need. The outdoors was AMAZING! The back patio and the second "patio" overlooking the water were just what we needed to have total relaxation and get in touch with nature with all five senses (OK, maybe not taste : ). The screen porch was great for reading on rainy days and our dog loved sitting out there watching all the humming birds. They were beautiful and you often see 8-10 at a time. Lot's of nice places nearby for day trips...we recommend a lunch train ride to the top of a waterfalls on the railroad in Elkins, the Wildlife Center (both within 20-30 minute ride) or just a ride through the mountains. The Mexican restaurant in Buckhannon and Smoke on the Water in Elkins were great and there is a nice little farmer's market in town too. Our teenagers loved the variety of board games on a rainy day and the fire pit is beautiful. The river was clean and surprisingly warmer than I expected with spots deep enough to sit and soak. Even the water pressure in the shower was great...we wouldn't change a thing.

Beautiful, Quiet Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. Our favorite part of the cabin was the awesome patio. It was so nice to sit out there and enjoy a fire with the sound of the river in the background. We also very much enjoyed the horseshoe pits, the additional deck that directly overlooked the river, & the master bathroom was awesome! There were no pictures of the kitchen when we booked so in case you're wondering, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need! It is a beautiful kitchen. Dan was so easy to work with. He will warn you that cell phone service is hard to find in or around the house. This was actually something we enjoyed most!!! (There is a house phone with free long distance for emergencies or to give out to family members back at home.) I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a peaceful getaway to enjoy nature and unplug.

It Really is the River's Edge

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful weather and beautiful river views. Fishing was okay, caught a few trout, some bass and blue gill. Got a great workout over the rocks walking up and down the shoreline. Water was crystal clear. Cabin was a great size, very country kozy. Had everything you needed. Brought lots of food, cooked on the grill and the fire pit. We loved, loved, loved the deck and patio. So serene listening to the river and the crackling fire. Did not have any issues except for the broken blender that leaked. I would suggest a new one and also adding a small electric processor to chop veggies or in my case artichokes and chic peas to make dips. Other than that the cabin was stocked well.
