This second floor condo has 2 bedrooms each with full bath. The master bath has a walk-in shower and the guest bath has a tub-shower combination with nice dressing tables in each bathroom. The master bedroom has a king-size bed. A nice tiled walk-in shower is in the master bathroom for a relaxing hot shower! Window wall in the master bedroom and picture window in living room all overlook the beach and Gulf of Mexico. Large walk-in closet holds all your clothes. Iron and stand-up board are in the closet. Your guests or children will be comfortable in the guest room with one twin bed and one pillow-top queen bed with their own TV and DVD player. The guest room has a private bathroom. Children can play in the tub or adults may want to shower in the combination tub-shower. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans for a gentle breeze.

As you enter your home-away-from home you will be greeted by a view of a newly redecorated home-away-from-home. You will see the fully equipped kitchen with nice cabinets, a late model refrigerator with ice maker and a ceramic top range with built-in microwave over it. The stainless steel sink and late model dishwasher will help with clean-up after your home-cooked meal served from the plentiful dishes and flatware. You will notice a Mr. Coffee, a toaster and toaster oven and a blender. The cabinets hold lots of dishes, cookware and stainless flatware. If you choose not to cook Blackbeard's Restaurant is a short block walk from your door. Food is excellent and they have daily lunch specials. Our dining table has six chairs and there are four stools at the bar. On the bar is a telephone from which you can make local or unlimited long distance calls. Sorry, no overseas calls! We also have high speed wireless for your laptop. Get the code from the office. Notice the attractive tile design under the bar which matches the new tile floor throughout the condo. Two leather sofas in the living area convert to queen size hide-abeds. A new 32' TV hangs on the living room wall. The kingsize bed in the master bedroom sports a nice bedspread, as do the beds in the guestroom. The 32 inch flat screen TV sits on it's stand in the master bedroom. The master bath has a marble top vanity with double sinks. The tiled walk-in shower has a corner bench so you can sit as you enjoy a hot shower after a day on the beach.

A Lazy-Boy recliner is in front of the large picture window looking across the beach to the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The balcony has chairs and a table for your morning coffee as you watch the waves roll in! Look down on the beach and watch families with children playing in the edge of the water or building a sand castle. Some may get a tan while sunbathing on their beach mat. Beach chairs and umbrellas are for rent on the beach. The more energetic people may get their exercise by walking or running along the surf. When you want a change go through the gate to the swimming pool area. Rinse off the sand under the shower and take a swim in our heated swimming pool or soak in the hot tub. You might enjoy going onto the wooden sundeck and rest a bit in the lounge chairs. At the other end of the complex are the bar-b-que pits and picnic tables. The Suntide II office is on site. Go there to check in on arrival or to exchange used towels for fresh ones. If you have a problem please let them know so it can be remedied.

We have good surf fishing, surf boarding, wind surfing and even kite boarding! Party boats will take you fishing in the bay or you might like the excitement of deep sea fishing. The family will enjoy going on a dolphin Watch! Go to the Turtle House to see the giant turtles or the very small ones. Drive North on highway 100 into the dunes for sea shelling! Back in town go shopping or eat at one of our very fine restaurants. A free trolley runs from one end of the Island and across the bridge to Port Isabel for sight seeing.

Suntide II is managed by an excellent staff located on the premises, allowing for quick maid and maintenance service. On-site check-in and check-out are available during normal office hours and extended hours on weekends and holidays.

I was born and raised on a ranch in the South Plains of West Texas. My first trip to South Padre Island was in 1952. We came across in a fishing boat - no bridge! The first bridge was built about 2 years later. Through the years my family made several trips a year to South Padre Island and we have watched South Padre Island grow from a sleepy little village to the resort area it is now! My children feel blessed to have had that privilege. Now they, their children and grandchildren love to come to Meme's Island! We love South Padre Island and I love having a condo on the beach. I like sharing my condo with you as your home away from home.

Why Jo Ann Price chose Gulf Coast

I wanted to own beachside rental property and I feel Suntide II is a good property for rental or my personal use. When I found Condo #204 in Suntide II it fit my dreams! The location in a 5-story condominium is excellent. Two elevators serve the complex. Next to the elevators the second floor has coin operated washer-dryers just across the walkway from our entry door. Using the two convertible leather sofas my condo will comfortably sleep 6 people. My beds are good and the appliances in the kitchen are all late model. My condo is well kept and up-to-date. It is right on the beach and overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. Drive a few miles up a paved road into the sand dunes and you will find wonderful sea shells. Many fishermen and their families go up there for surf fishing and picnics. Our beach is the best in Texas! My family all really love this condo.

What makes this condo unique

We have a large, nice swimming pool and hot tub with adjoining wooden sundeck. They all overlook the beach. At other end of the building we have a bar-b-que area with picnic tables. South Padre Island is blessed with some very good restaurants, all near Suntide II. Many other attractions such as a golf course, museums and gift shops are across the bridge in Port Isabel. In nearby Brownsville is a zoo, shopping and dining. Across the Inernational Bridge is shopping and dining in Mexico.

Great condo but questionable area.

First let me say that the condo is a 5 star, modest but very clean and modern, 0 complaints! I gave my stay an overall 4 to help you navigate through some potentials pitfalls.

Upon arrival we were greeted by another party hanging out in the parking lot at the front entrance with their music and bass at levels that were vibrating us inside of our vehicle, (no exaggeration). Apparently this did not garner the attention they missed as youths so they began demonstrating the 'poddy dance' in between the parked vehicles to maximize their starved efforts for attention. Or at least I assume they were doing the poddy dance since they were bobbing, weaving and holding their groins?

This coupled with an entrance to the facility that is dated and not well lit provided for plenty of initial concerns about our stay. Upon entering the front office I was greeted by a younger heavy set gal that let me know the party before us paid for a late checkout and we would not have access to our room as I expected, (it was well after 1 pm but you cannot check in until 4 pm, I must've missed this somewhere). I explained that we just purchased a substantial amount of groceries and many were frozen or refrigerated. She made it clear that she couldn't care less about our predicament. I asked her what we should do and she reluctantly called the general manager, (at this point I'm wanting to cancel our entire reservation). Aurora the general manager arrived and she was awesome! She found a place for our refrigerated foods, apologized for the ridiculous noise and assured us that it would be taken care of. True to her word the circus act out front subsided shortly thereafter and our inital bad taste about the facility was soon removed.

The beach was not cluttered at all and quite nice but your should know that condom wrappers, used condoms and overhead airplane advertising announcing "Trojan: you can't wait to get it on!" are part of the landscape. After explaining that to my children the seaweed and dead jellyfish that washed up on the shore weren't such big deal.

Overall we were very pleased with the facility but would not ever come back to this area again. We came the week after spring break so I figured these types of experiences would not be commonplace? I understood the mountains of trash, garbage and broken bottles that had not been cleaned up from the week before and had no issue with that.

The ongoing trashiness of the community was startling though.

Wonderful Stay

I got back today from a 5 day, 4 night vacation in this condo. The owner of the condo is extremely helpful in your trip planning. She always responded to emails within a matter of days, sometimes hours. The Island is BeAuTiFuL. The beach is great, you can walk for miles. The weather, even in December was mild and wonderful for us as Minnesotans. Both Blackbeards and the Wanna Wanna Beach Bar are walking distance from the condo. All other activities on the island are only minutes away. The pictures don't do the condo or the view justice. It is better in person! The condo was clean, spacious and had everything we needed and more provided. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful. We felt safe at all times. The heated pool was a treat since the ocean was a bit chilly, even for us. We were very sad to leave today and head back to chilly Minnesota, but if I ever go back to South Padre this would be the first place I would choose to stay and plan to recommend it to any family or friends that are planning a trip. It is a must!

Great Getaway!

We stayed at this condo this past week (Aug 12-14, 2010). Our overall experience was great! The overall description of the property is very accurate. The pictures are true to what is there with the exception of the living room sofas which have been updated and are alot nicer than the ones shown. The condo is super clean and inviting. The kitchen is fully equipt with anything you may need to cook any meal. The location is great! You are close to very thing. The beach is just a few steps from your door and sitting on the balcony at night listening to the waves is so soothing. The property itself is great. Has one big pool that the kids really enjoyed. Management is always ready to help. The owner was super nice and very easy to get in touch with. Will definetely consider this condo for my future island getaways.

Children and adults alike enjoy the Turtle House - Touch and feed the giant Hadley Turtles and the tiny newly hatched babies. Go up the Texas 100 highway and ride horseback on the beach. Go shelling in the dunes and collect shells from the tiny ones to the large 4-inch diameter collector shells. Make a reservation on a Dolphin watch boat and watch the antics of the dolphins as they perform for you! Across the bridge in Poet Isabel there is a large museum of the historical facts and artifacts of South Padre Island. A wonderful zoo is a few miles away in Brownsville. Never a dull moment in Beautiful South Padre Island! Rest your feet in our Cinema Movie as you make your choice from four movies.
