ADORABLE: Regularly adored by many travelers as a favorite cottage along this magnificent stretch of road, this storybook log cabin paints a lovely picture! Like the original Bliss log homes that align this famous route, this rustic full log retreat is a holiday delight.

A CYCLISTS DREAM ROUTE: The narrow, curving passage of the 'M-119 Scenic Heritage Route' is celebrated for both tunneling trees and breathtaking vistas. This is where our postcard cabin sits; with amazing views high above Lake Michigan and a heavenly sand beach below.

BEACH & WOODS: The quaint setting offers thrilling views of yachts passing and an occasional freighter in the distance. . .far below the bluff is a very private SANDY beach ...behind the cabin is the tranquility of 6 wooded acres to exclusively explore. Kids and adults love to play in the backyard trails! Look for morels, and identify the birds and flowers. . .This charming haven supplies a bewitching bluff setting high above the water with exciting views of personal shimmering sandy beach below. The view is a panoramic frame of Charlevoix to the south and Beaver Island to the northwest with stunning sunsets in between.

POSTCARD CABIN: This vintage log retreat was properly pegged 'Shorecabin' when it was built by the original owners in the 1950's. Settle into our 2 bedroom, 1 bath full-log bungalow with cozy screened porch and relax as the world goes by. . . Or get up and have some fun down on the beach, which is accessed by a gently sloping pathway. This path crosses other private coastal owners in our association so the slope remains manageable(rather than steep steps) 10-15 minutes down, 15-20 minutes back up! It is worth every step!!

PRIVATE BEACH: Rest assured the beach is private to each owner's frontage. (seriously private--if you see more than 2 people in one outing, consider this a busy day of hello's!) It is unusual to see anyone else on this beach except in the distance. It is rare if anyone walks by. . enjoy the solitude.

SUNSETS: After savoring the day lazing on this clandestine 150' beach, have a cookout in the front yard (equipped with picnic table and hefty park-style charcoal BBQ) and take in sunsets that will captivate. View the big lake from a vantage point that will have you telling your friends and family about this amazing slice of real estate.

ROMANTIC: Charm also lies within 'Shorecabin'. The interior is designed in a 'French Country' style that is both comfy and simply romantic. The screened-in porch is ideal when you don't want to let go of another day. Grab a quilt and cozy up on the cushioned glider. Listen to the sounds of the lake and woods while you watch your campfire flicker.

GREAT LOCATION-----Superbly positioned only seven miles north of downtown Harbor Springs, there is excellent shopping, boating, and golf with several fine dining restaurants in the area. Recreational activities in the immediate area include biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and horse back riding. It is an easy drive to the ferries of Mackinaw City for a wonderful trip to Mackinac Island. The lakeside communities of Petoskey, Bay Harbor, Cross Village or the inland waterway are quick trips, too.

Warning: There is much to do, but you may find it difficult to leave this magical setting! Come explore the beach and woods of 'upnorth' soon.

The winding, scenic tunnel of trees road lies between Shorecabin & the beach. A split rail fence is your only visual divider between the yard and the gorgeous lake beyond. Dogs are welcome here, and love the woods beyond & the lake below.

'Shorecabin' rekindles the nostalgia of a quintessential northern Michigan cabin experience.....

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time at the cozy Shorecabin! I can't imagine a more idyllic setting or perfect beach. The woods (and it's deer and a very friendly little fox) were great for the kids and your fire pit was the perfect ending each night. Northern Michigan was well worth the long drive from Kansas City! Truly, Sarah & John ps---oh, and the flowers and card were a really nice touch, thank you.

Quaint and Rustic

  • 3 of 5

Shore Cabin is in a beautiful setting overlooking Lake Michigan with easy access to many points of interest and great restaurants. The owners provided ample tips on where to eat, sightseeing and how to get around. All points describing the cabin were accurate - down to the detail of a "petite" bathroom with a step up shower. The cabin was well stocked with supplies, a large assortment of cooking equipment and eclectic furnishings. Although we had a few housekeeping issues, the owner responded within two hours in an attempt to resolve.

We would not recommend making this location as a get away for two couples - not a lot of space for privacy. Perfect for a couple that appreciates a rustic setting.

A vintage cabin in a stunning location, near Lake Michigan with beautiful sunset views.

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin. Pros: The rooms are well-furnished, and the outdoor spaces are delightful. Bedrooms are cozy with comfortable beds and enough bedding. Beach furnishings are provided, and the beach is a combination of sand and beautiful rocks. Cons: The kitchen is very small with inadequate lighting, so it's not a space to dwell in. We would have liked to use the indoor fireplace but it wasn't working. Overall: Very pleasant place to stay with an authentic "Up North" feel, and close to the Good Hart general store.

Cozy and beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is small and cozy, but it is well-furnished and included everything we needed for a wonderful stay this past week. It is clean, comfortable, well-sealed and maintained. We were prepared for lack of internet and TV, though pleasantly surprised to find the TV supported the three major networks via antenna so we were able to enjoy the Olympics broadcast in the evening. We were usually able to call and text from the cottage and grounds on our cell phones via roaming service. The short hike to the beach was just the right amount of exercise. The beach is secluded and beautiful - perfect for swimming (sandy bottom), though the water levels are high this year so not a lot of sand area for sunning. We found enough space to pitch our chairs and enjoy this pristine setting. The area itself is paradise: I was standing overlooking the crystal clear beach from just outside the cabin early one morning and a bald eagle soared by to make the view even more precious and spectacular. M119: we will be back!

Had a great time at Shore cabin. Cozy cabin, great breezes coming off the lake, short walk down to a sandy bottom beach. Just a wonderful time all around.
