This house is delightful and besides being very well-
located, is well-appointed and comfortable in many ways
that rental houses are usually not. The furnishings are all
attractive and pleasant; the linens and towels are nice; there
are plenty of dishes, pots, pans, etc. In fact, the kitchen is
great—the restaurant stove is a treat. The overall effect
is of a very comfortable, welcoming, environment, that’s
not too personal, but not impersonal (i.e. hotel-like) either.
It’s got taste and style, but there aren’t a lot of the owners’
personal stuff around (except lots of great books—adult
and children’s).
Anyway. We were delighted because we have rented some
houses that looked great on the outside or well located well,
but inside the furniture, paintings or bedspreads were so
ugly that it was a drag. Also, the house has great light.
The pool is particularly nice—it’s gunite, not plastic, and
looks almost Mediterranean—again, there’s a level of taste
here that you don’t often get. So though the house is more
old-fashioned than some (e.g. claw-foot tubs, though some
bathrooms are have showers, and there’s a great outdoor
shower), the owners seem to have made the most of the
vintage they were working with (1920’s? 30’s).
Definitely would work well for families and groups of
friends- or holidays. Like I said, lots of dishes, etc. and a
big dining room.
An added bonus: the owners are really nice, responsive,
and friendly. We had no problems, but whenever we had
questions, they were on it very quickly, and things moved
smoothly throughout.
