Beach House Within Walking Distance of Downtown Traverse City

Bedrooms 1
Property type guest house
Minimum Stay 6 - 30 nights

About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Ours is a simple, SMALL beach house, located on the grounds of our family home (which means that we share the beach). West Grand Traverse Bay is twenty steps away from the front door - - and downtown Traverse City is a 15 minute walk down Front Street.

We rent it from Sunday-Sunday from July through September. Between October and June, we rent it by the week or by the month.

The summer weekly rental fee is $1500 (except during the Traverse City Film Festival, Fourth of July and Labor Day, when it increases to $2000), and we ask that half of the fee be paid at the time the reservation is made.

We must limit the number of residents because of the limitations of the plumbing. Parties of more than 4 will need prior approval and perhaps a damage deposit and/or an increase in the rental fee.

Between October and June, the weekly fee is $750. The monthly fee is $1500.

We ask for 50% of the fee in advance. The balance is due on check-in. Check in is at 2 p.m. on Sundays....check out is at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

The sunsets are out of this world - - and sunrises are pretty spectacular, too!

We are happy to discuss pets (a damage deposit is needed) - - and it is paradise for children of all ages!

Best place in Traverse City!

  • 5 of 5

So my wife and I got lucky with this place as it wasn't booked so we were offered it at a reduced rate, for s shorter stay (5 nights instead of 7). My wife, daughter and pug stayed here during the Cherry Festival and absolutely loved it. We walked and biked to town and the festival, watched fireworks twice from the beach in front of the house and swam in the crystal clear lake waters. The home has everything you need and the owners are great to work with! We would love to come back next year for a full week, sadly we can't swing the full rate, but it is absolutely worth every penny! Love, love, love this place!

Perfect beach house

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August with 2 small children and had a wonderful time. The beach house was perfect for us - private, clean, and updated with the most amazing yard and beach right on Grand Traverse bay. The house is right downtown, but set far enough from the road that you don't hear traffic. Terrie and John were fantastic hosts who were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Hope to stay here again soon!

Nice but very dirty

  • 3 of 5

This place is in an awesome location on the beach with an awesome view. Close to everything. We had a good time, however it was very dirty. There were dead bugs everywhere including in the bed and there was dog hair all over the carpet. I cringed every time I let my one year old crawl on the floor because he was covered with dog hair! The place just felt really dirty! There were also only 2 towels in the bathroom and we didn't find any extra blankets anywhere. It would have been nice to have extra towels and linens as it got very cold at night. It would be a very good place to stay if it was cleaned thoroughly!

We stayed here for the 5th year. Absolutely love the beach house. This time, my sister came with us and she was very impressed with the beach house, beach, and location. Great location for walking and biking!! Looking forward to next year!

Love this beach house

  • 5 of 5

This is the 3rd year we have stayed in the Beach House and have had a wonderful time every year. This is a cottage with a fantastic view of the lake and within walking distance to downtown. The beach was very enjoyable with our own fire pit. We rode our bikes on the TART which is very close. The landlords are fabulous and very helpful with all questions. We found everything we needed in the kitchen.

Stay away!

  • 1 of 5

Great location with views of the lake and nice enough beach - but that's it. Stay away. Property is very, very run down, dirty, cobweb covered and bug infested (especially under beds, in kitchen cabinets, and bathroom). While we expected to share beach with owners, we would have appreciated a heads up that they would be having large lawn/beach parties on two evenings during our stay - since we did not have curtains on all windows for privacy and it made the beach unusable by us. Here is just a short list of some of the deficiencies: no remote for the TV, broken window screens repaired with duct tape, not a single pot in kitchen with a fitting lid for cooking, promised gas grill was inoperable and filthy with no available cleaning tool, broken towel bar in bath that owners promised to fix but never did, missing lightbulbs from fixtures - the list could go on and on. The neglect of this property and the owners' disrespect for tenants is shameful. We had planned to stay 2 weeks but left after only one week as soon as we secured other accommodations for the remainder of our vacation.

Owner's Response: We appreciated this frank response - - and we've acted. We've cleaned every where, and will ramp up our inspection once the cleaner has finished. We married up the pots and their lids, and re-located them on their own shelf. We've replaced the gas grill entirely, and the new grill has a brush and other tools. The remote control for the television, the screen, and the towel bar are fixed. All light fixtures have bulbs, and spare light bulbs are in the cupboard. We do usually communicate well in advance about planned events, and as quickly as we can about the impromptu ones - - we will be especially vigilant, though, about this.
