About Roberta (Bobbi) Avancena
After working in the U.S. House of Representatives and fundraising for nonprofits in the Washington, D.C. area, I decided to go back to the place where my parents took us each year to camp -- Mt. Desert Island. I rent my home to vacationers during the summer season while I help manage a Bed and Breakfast in downtown Bar Harbor.. In the winters, I like to go home and spend that time with my wonderful family. Whenever I get the opportunity, I try to help those less fortunate than me. I think your life should count for something.

Why Roberta (Bobbi) Avancena chose Bar Harbor
It's both close to downtown Bar Harbor and only a block from the Duck Pond entrance to Acadia National Park with access to a host of Carriage trails. It sits on a hill with large windows all around the main living with a nice view of lots of trees and some mountain views (as well as wildlife that I frequently see on my property).
What makes this House unique
All the comforts of home in a beautiful setting. I don't skimp on anything.

The property was beautiful and the home was immaculate. Everything you could possibly need was there waiting for you. The house was very close too many activities and just a short walk or drive down to the waterfront. If you are looking for a home to rent while on vacation in Bar Harbor, please consider this beautiful home for your stay.
A joy to return!
A very tastefully appointed home. Attention to detail clearly evident. Very clean and tidy. This was a return visit after a five year gap and it felt again like home the moment the door was opened. A perfect location for walking, driving to town or to any of the wonderful Acadian adventures.
Comfortable, "like-home" stay in Bar Harbor
My husband, young son, and I spent a week at this rental, exploring the Bar Harbor area. It was the perfect "home base"--go one way up the hill, and you're in Acadia National Park. Go the other way down the hill, and with just two quick turns (and within four minutes or so), you're in downtown Bar Harbor. (The townhouse is close enough to walk downtown, but it involves crossing the main road from the mainland--Rte. 3--which isn't very pedestrian-friendly.)
The townhouse was comfortable, up-to-date, and had all we needed. Loved having the washer/dryer, not to mention a garage to park the car in. There's a small view of Cadillac Mtn. (I believe) from the back patio--though, that may disappear when there are more leaves on the trees.
There was plenty of space to stretch out and each have our own space (my son staked out the big window seat for himself, and spent a good amount of time there, reading). And, while we were only three people, it would very comfortably hold six, without everyone being on top of one another.
Also, the place smelled nice, and felt clean. The shelf of knick knacks in the downstairs 1/2 bath had some dust action going on (I recommend editing down to one or two easily-dusted pieces), but overall, it felt bright and clean and happy.
Lastly, the owner, Bobbi, was absolutely wonderful to work with--a real superstar!
My only word of caution about this property: there are a lot of stairs (no surprise there, given that it's a townhouse), but if you struggle with stair climbing, you may want to consider another property.
Perfect In Every Way!
As others have stated, this is a wonderful home, close to all that Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and MDI offer. Comfortable and attractive rooms/furnishings, well-appointed/amenities, ample parking, large garage, laundry, walk to town, bike to the park, short drive to park entrances. Best by far for us, in over 20 years of coming to MDI.
Excellent property, close to both town and Acadia
I have returned to this charming, affordable townhouse in Bar Harbor every fall for a number of years. The house is a real find, being so conveniently located within walking distance to town and right outside an entrance to the National Park. The house is beautifully decorated and is fully outfitted for a comfortable stay. It has all the conveniences of home with a well- stocked kitchen. Bobbi, the owner, is easy to deal with and makes everything easy.
This is a lovely house. Everything in the description of it was true as are the other reviews. There's absolutely nothing you need to bring other than clothes and food. Beautifully kept, spacious and comfy. Great kitchen with all the amenities (we did bring a crock pot with us). Large selection of current movies and books. An entrance to Acadia National Park is right up the street. Bar Harbor town center within walking distance. And Bobbi is wonderfully helpful, accommodating and friendly. We 5 "sisters" had a great time.
Directions: From Bar Harbor Town Pier (by the shops and restaurants) on West Street, walk up West St., cross over Eden St. (where the number '3' appears on the map above). Continue walking up West St. taking the second right on North Woodbury Road. Once on North Woodbury Road, take the first driveway on the left to the house. The house is one of only three homes on Woodbury Road. The rest of North Woodbury Road is trees. A block and a half from the house is an entrance to Acadia National Park (Duck Brook Pond entrance). Other Activities: ocean kayaking, seals-otter-peregrine watching
