The house of capers

We called it the “house of capers” because wild caper grows on all boundary walls and on many other walls: it has a beautiful flower that opens at dusk. It is located on the road to the beaches at about 5 km from the village. The house is on many levels and also habitable in the outdoor space. A large terrace festooned with hibiscus, bougainvillea and lantana surrounds the whole building. A large garden of nearly an acre all implanted with Mediterranean plants welcomes you in the greenest oasis of Carloforte. There are two entrances: the main gate is on the road to the beaches, a few hundred meters from Puntanera beach, the other overlooking the Vivagna pond and from there you will easily reach the beach or the Guidi rocks where there are natural pools. Upon entering the property, on the right you will find a large lawn with palm trees and Bougainville, to the left a small orchard and a vegetable garden. The whole garden is fenced and surrounded by dunes with plants. You’ll enter the house from the terrace where a living room is set, with a sofa, two armchairs, a coffee table under a large umbrella: all furniture is high quality by Emu. Inside, a living room and a large kitchen fully furnished with quality furniture. For example, the floor of the kitchen is entirely made of marble , the L-shaped sofa is placed in front of a fireplace designed by Focus , making the house habitable in winter, due to the mild temperatures of the island. A system of heat convectors placed in all spaces allows to heat and refrigerate. The kitchen is super equipped, with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and American-style freezer, large oven, stove with six burners and all small appliances. The same for crockery, with dishes ( 4 servings) , glasses and fine cutlery for 12 people, and tablemats of various kinds. On the ground floor there is a settlement and a guest bathroom. All the walls are decorated with a spatula in the wax. A wood and steel design staircase to the second floor where there are two suites. The master bedroom has a large and comfortable double bed, a marble bathroom with a bath, a walk-in wardrobe cupboard, and then it opens onto a Iroko terrace where comfortable pillows have been set to look at the stars at night.
From the kitchen door that goes out onto the terrace, overlooking the meadow covered by a roof, you enter a room with a sofa bed and a second pull-out bed, a desk, a bathroom with a large sponge decorated shower, equipped with air-conditioning for hot and cold air. The entire structure, made of Iroko wood and with a stone floor which reflects the structure of the central block and overlooks the garden through its large windows. A square table for 8 people and equipped with 8 chairs, all by Emu, is placed under the terrace of the main house. Crossing the lawn and passing behind the dunes of the Mediterranean scrub, you arrive at the L-shaped pool built by Castiglione with a recirculation tank . The pool is 12.5 meters long and 6 meters wide: the deeper side is 2 meters deep while the other side is 140 cm deep. You will comfortably enter the pool on the side of the small arm of the L-shape, with comfortable steps degrading the floor , made in special material that gives the feeling of walking on a mattress. An outdoor shower, 4 large sunbeds by Emu with a table and four chairs plus a Moroccan table and two more tables by Emu complete the decor. Pool disinfection is set through bitumide, i.e. without chlorine: it means there will be NO chlorine fumes and no discomfort to eyes and skin. All around flowers and plants and lawn, close to the anti- slip Sardinian stone border surface. A classic ladder and a easy to use and programmable constant cleaning robot complete the set of accessories. From the pool you’ll be able to access the Zen garden with gravel bottom and succulents plants around large Sardinian stones – a truly spectacular view! Close by there’s a shed to store tools, and a ping pong table.
The house is equipped with 4 bikes and a FIAT 600 convertible for guests to use. A desalination plant provides the water needs for the house and garden. Hot water is provided through a gas boiler, therefore you’ll never be short, even when used at the same time in different bathrooms. The house is also Wi-Fi equipped, with an external repeater to amplify the signal outdoor. Two deposits are placed under the terrace around the house.
A paradise where often you can admire the queen’s falcons fly in pairs over the house and many other species such as flamingos and herons as well as the colourful butterflies, an evident sign of pollution-free clean air.
