While Martinique may feel like a distant paradise, it boasts one of the best infrastructures in the Caribbean, thanks to its status as a French Department. You’ll find smooth, well-maintained roads that make exploring the island effortless, and lots to see and experience.

Here at Surfside Martinique, convenience is key. Situated in the center and heart of the island, you’ll find yourself near all of the above, just minutes from the main highway, making it effortless to discover all that Martinique has to offer, both north and south.

Our apartments at Surfside Martinique are very cozy and incredibly comfortable and functional! With ample square footage interior and a large deck just outside your door, you’ll have plenty of room to relax and all the space you need to make the most of your Caribbean stay!

In our small village of Tartane there is a tiny grocery store at the gas station, several restaurants and cafes, and some small "marches" where you can buy local fruits and vegetables. You can also buy fresh fish daily caught by the fisherman of the village.

Need medical assistance? You’ll have access to top-notch hospitals and skilled doctors nearby. For everyday needs, supermarkets stocked with French delicacies and fine wines are just around the corner. And let’s not forget the local bakeries! Imagine indulging in flaky pain au chocolats or fresh baguettes just five minutes from your door for the perfect breakfast treat. It’s a little taste of France, right in the Caribbean!

Surfside Martinique is located at the very tip of the peninsula we call the "Caravelle" which is the French name used to describe the ships used by Christopher Columbus who discovered the island in 1502.

Directly in front of the apartment is our beach, which we lovingly call "Surfer's Beach", and as you can see from the pictures of the surf, it is a name well chosen, although it is not the only surf spot on the island. There are several other spots on the east coast and others on the northwest. We have beginner surfboards to rent right here to give it a try and can help set up lessons if you desire.

Just a few steps east of Surfside Martinique, you’ll discover the stunning nature preserve—an outdoor enthusiast's paradise! Hike through lush trails, where vibrant flora and fauna abound, and don’t miss the chance to unwind on secluded beaches whithin the park, that feel like your own private getaway. There are hikes for all levels in the preserve from 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Make sure to visit the iconic lighthouse at the tip of the park, which offers breathtaking views of the coastline and endless blue waters. It’s the perfect spot for that Instagram-worthy photo!

And for a touch of history, explore Chateau Dubuc, the ancient ruins that tell the story of pioneering farming families. Imagine walking through the remnants of sugar cane plantations that once thrived, sending sweet exports to Europe. It’s a captivating blend of nature, adventure, and heritage, all right at your doorstep!

For hiking enthusiasts, Mount Pelée is a true gem! Standing at 1,397 meters, it offers trails that range from a few hours for a quick trek to all-day adventures for those seeking a challenge. The stunning views from the summit are a rewarding payoff, and the history of the 1902 eruption adds an exhilarating backdrop to your hike.

Don’t miss Fort-de-France, the vibrant current capital, where you can explore local shops like Roger Albert and soak in the lively atmosphere. The Schoelcher Library is a highlight—its stunning architecture by Gustave Eiffel makes it a must-see!

Head south to the picturesque beaches of Diamant and Sainte-Anne for a more laid-back experience, where you can lounge on soft white sand and swim in crystal-clear waters. If you venture west, you’ll find the striking black sand beaches and the historic town of St. Pierre, rich with remnants of its volcanic past.
