About Paul Mabie

Your Hosts Gordon, Pat and Paul Mabie. My wife Pat and I spent 24 years in the U.S. Army. After we retired we moved to Bozeman, MT to be closer to the grandkids. We are RVers who love to travel. We spend our summers in Montana and our winters in Key West, Florida. We are delighted to be able to offer our vacation rental home to guests who want to visit Southwest Montana. Gordon has recently become a Marriage Officiant and is able to conduct weddings. at Point of View

Paul Mabie purchased this house in 2004

Why Paul Mabie chose Livingston

Our son, Paul, wanted to purchase a home in Montana. We joined in the purchase with him. We fell in love with this home and its location on the Yellowstone River.

What makes this house unique

You can fly fish from the river bank, swim (life preservers recommended) play horseshoes, float the river in a tube, boat, raft or life preserver, picnic or just relax and watch the river flow by. Deer use the 800 acre undeveloped land next door to the south as a river crossing. There is a bald eagle that fishes and patrols the river. White pelicans float downstream often.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The availability of your property afforded us our first Montana Christmas after seventeen years of visits to the Big Sky Country.

“Peace I ask of thee O River

Peace Peace Peace

When I learn to live serenely

Cares will cease

From the hills I gather courage

Visions of the days to be

Strength to lead and faith to follow

Till all are given unto me

Peace I ask of the O’River

Peace, Peace, Peace”

With our gratitude,

A little piece of paradise.

  • 5 of 5

The house is located in the most peaceful location with stunning views. We loved waking up to the sound of 'moo' when the cattle grazed on the field neaby. The couple of bald eagles made regular appearances and a deer came by at dusk to say hello. The weather was hot during our stay, but the house stayed comfortable and cool. Best of all was the sunroom where we ate all our meals that we prepared in the well equipped kitchen.

morning coffee and grand views

Thank you Mables and Siobhan (site manager) for a great stay! We came with family for an August wedding in the valley and found your place to be a wonderful combination of morning zen and afternoon family fun on the river! Everyone was comfortable, the house was clean and well stocked. We loved our morning walks along the river and the use of the kayaks to ferry over to the island to swim! We would give 5 stars if you upgraded bedding and fixed a few things. Wonderful location, would definitely return! Thank you so much!!

Summer Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Point of View for 9 days in July 2017. We have stayed in Paradise Valley previously and find this to be one of the nicer available single family homes in the Valley. The owner Paul was extremely responsive and great to deal with. It is an excellent central location with great services and restaurants in Emigrant/Pray, a short trip to Livingston and reasonable drive to Gardiner/North Entrance Yellowstone National Park. Our party especially liked this location for the end of road privacy, views and access to the river. We utilized the put in/take out on the property which made coordinating daily float trips on the river very convenient as 9+ miles of river both up and downstream are very family friendly and some of the best fly fishing around when the conditions are right.

We chose to rent the house and the tipi together to accommodate a larger crew. If you do rent just the house be aware that the house overlooks the Tipi area next to the river. This is not a bad thing just that you are sharing space with another party. If you are looking for solitude be sure to rent the Tipi's too.

Enjoy and get out!

Delightful

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our friends wanted to stay for a couple of nights at Chico but there were no rooms at that Inn. I found this great place with a sun room that has an unobstructed view looking south to the northern portion of Yellowstone National Park. The house was exactly what we needed and we were all happier there than we would have been in a room even at Chico. We were only minutes away and had a very nice dinner at the resort but we then looked forward to coming home to the house and the stunning view. Thanks Paul, we will be back.
