We had an amazing time here! The property is beautiful, breakfasts are delicious, and Patrick goes above and beyond to make sure you have all you need. Our family of 9 had plenty of space and will definitely stay here again.

Great location and great host! We wanted to experience living in the middle of a rain forest and that's exactly what we got. The house is situated with a view of lake Arenal. Cicadas constant hum, winds, and the micro weather changes gave us a unique experience. Host Patrick, Elisa and their staff were kind and accommodating. Every morning, we were greeted with great coffee, tropical smoothie, and an array of delicious breakfast spread that gave us the energy to do all the stuff we wanted to do rest of the day. House is big enough for a large family or multiple families. Has a grande pool house with a lot of amenities. Patrick made reservations for our activities and helped us with our plans based on our interests.

This place was amazing! The services that the host provided were great. The included breakfast was delicious and a great way to start our day. Patrick was so helpful with our excursions. This is by far the best VRBO that I've ever stayed at. We hope to return again sometime.

Our stay was exceptional! Patrick was extremely helpful in coordinating some of our Arenal adventures including a gormet dinner at the nearby Gingerbread House. The view from our villa was magical. We really appreciated the homemade breakfasts every morning. We will never forget our stay there.

This is a lovely, magical property. Set high up, you often find yourself in the early morning rainforest clouds. You can enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio as the clouds burn off and beautiful Lake Arenal appears below you in the distance. An incredible fresh breakfast is provided each morning! Best of all is the attentiveness of Patrick, your host. He is always quick to respond to your needs and wants and ready to help you book excursions and experiences. The views are great, the setting beautiful and the property well maintained.

We stayed a week and the entire trip was amazing! Patrick was a fantastic host. The view from the property was breathtaking and the daily visits from the toucans and other birds were wonderful. The property is a tremendous bargain, especially when you consider the gourmet, huge breakfasts everyday. So fabulous! It's a 10 minute trip to the supermarket and about an hour to La Fortuna for many of the touristy activities. Great roads, great restaurants all around. The place was clean, clean, clean. You won't regret renting this property! There were only two of us staying this time, but the place sleeps many more with private bathrooms all around. Loved it all!

Matching every prior review and exceeding all expectations, The Red Sunset at Guanacaste made for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation for our family.From Patrick's first-class hosting (including arranging private night jungle walks and horseback riding through meadows and streams) to a five-star gourmet breakfast cooked just for us while we awoke overlooking Lake Arenal, we felt as if we had been given keys to our own castle for the week.Every detail of the experience has been carefully curated by the host, and he was proactive in anything that we possibly could have wondered or needed. My only regret is that we could not stay longer!

Our stay here was truly amazing!! Patrick is a great host and very helpful booking tours and the breakfast everyday was so good never the same! And the sweet dogs that came to visit us were amazing (Jackson Emma and Dozer) we fell in love with them and Cora Rica I would definitely recommend this property!

My Family has the pleasure of staying in this home for a week and we wish it was much longer. Patrick is an exceptional host. From pre vacation communication and questions, to setting up our airport transfer, drivers for the week, excursions He is nothing but accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to encourage any Friend or Family member to stay here. Patrick and his Team made us feel so comfortable and the breakfast was incredible. The house is very comfortable and to echo other reviews the pool house, grounds, amenities, and the views from the terrace didn’t dissapoint. Travel trip for those who make not be too familiar. WhatsApp and Zelle are both utilized heavily - set both up before you go!This is the perfect spot to setup base to explore the Lake Arenal area!!We will be back!

Scenic and fun stay near Lake Arenal

The house is in a beautiful location. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and breakfast was really nice. Patrick recommended some great activities that were perfect for our family and helped set up all the bookings. I would highly recommend staying here!

This was a phenomenal vacation, thanks to Patrick--and his wonderful family. Patrick was so kind and generous with his time. He sincerely wanted us to have the best trip--and we did. The house is like a castle--with an unbelievable view of the volcano--the breakfasts were delicious buffets with so many options. Patrick gave us ideas of what to do and booked the excursions for us, making everything so easy. We'd go back to Red Sunset of Guanacaste in a second and will recommend to anyone planning a vacation in Arenal.

Had an amazing time at Patrick's place. We travelled over the Christmas holidays - there were two families travelling together. The house had lots of space for us and a beautiful view. Having breakfast made every day was a great way to start the day and Patrick was beyond amazing in helping us arrange our days/transportation and anything we needed. The only item that I would highlight is that to get to adventures - it is a lot of travelling. Typically at least an hour each way to get to all the amazing adventures that La Fortuna and other surrounding areas bring.

Hi Marni! Thanks for the great review! For our guests, our location is a true highlight, we are central to seeing many different areas of the country. La Fortuna, Canas, La Leona, Rio Celeste, gorgeous beaches for a day trip. All while remaining in the real rainforest. So those interested in a more Disneyland like experience might do better staying in the heaviest tourist rich areas. Those looking for a real rainforest experience, something unique, non corporate with a desire of getting to know a country for how it truly is, will always have a home away from home, here at " The Redsunset of Guanacaste ". Amazing property with stunning views snd limitless bird watching and wildlife from the balcony. Toucan, beautiful “parakeets”/parrots and so many other daily visitors. So much to do such as whitewater rafting, animal viewing friver floats, zip lining (outstanding and unique), coffee/ chocolate tasting and tour, ATV’s, horseback trips, and incredible scenery everywhere.Patrick and Alicia could not have been more gracious hosts. Patrick helped with planning everything and Alicia made the most amazing breakfast each morning. It is called the rain forest for a reason and the experience was exactly what we hoped for.There are also several extremely delicious restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute drive, including one (Gingerbread) which has some of the best food I have ever tasted. It is also a dining experience that is both unique and memorable!! Dinner and a show is an accurate description. Caution bringing young children or adults who are easily offended.Could not have more pleased with our experience and we are looking forward to another trip in October (hopefully) and a family vacation there next year!!
