About Fred Reynolds

Fred and Sue purchased the propery in 2007, and have enjoyed spending their time bringing it back to life. They have four children, and one dog.

Fred Reynolds purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Fred Reynolds chose Plainwell

Pine Lake has that 'Up-North Feel' while still being close to Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids. Our property is at the end of a private drive, and is surrounded by water on three sides.

What makes this cottage unique

Privacy! We are the last lot at the tip of the Point. We have privacy fence all along the back of the property, offering isolation from the neighbors and street.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This e-mail was sent to us by our guest:

We had a Great Week again. Weather was good . Only had the rain overnight Wednesday and some Thursday .It got a little cooler towards the end of the week but we still got to do all of our activities. Fishing wasn’t too bad, kids went tubing with my sisters speed boat ,we had the wave runners and then used the pontoon boat at night to fish from and also took my folks on it and around the lake Saturday night. We all had a great time. Had no problems with the cottages or anything else. And like I said when we first met , we always try to leave the place as clean as when we found it so I’m glad you found it that way to. Please just keep the deposits and put it towards next year. Just let me know what all that adds up to then. The propane tanks were fine. We just used the one by the smaller cottage only. The only thing that would make our stay better next year is if the weather would hold and all of us can stay healthy and make it back there next year. We enjoyed it so much that if possible we would like to come in on a Thursday . It would be 7/11/2013 to 7/21/2013. At least that is what we want to reserve right now. It could change by a day say coming in on that Friday or even the Saturday again but at least we reserve it now and see what goes on come the first of the new year. Thanks again so very much for letting us come and use the cottages. Great time had by all and are looking forward to coming back for hopefully longer next year.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd time renting these cottages. There have been several updates done since the first time: new sheets, blankets, pot & pans, silverware (enough for everyone), new docks and new appliances in the lower cottage. Had a wonderful week, rented both cottages for our extended families. Swimming was great, the lake was warm. Did several kayak and canoes trips thru the different lakes. The older kids especially enjoyed the fishing, caught enough that we had fish for dinner one night. Had a campfire several nites even though the weather was quite warm. Had one rainy day but there was easily enough room at the main house table for several rounds of cards which kids and adults enjoyed. Fred and Sue were very accommodating and the rental process was easy.

My wife & I rented the cabin over our wedding weekend. It was the perfect place for our bridal party to stay! Since it's on the end of the road it's nice and secluded. The lake was alive with water sports on Sunday, we all swam, barbecued, & waved at boats as they passed through the channel. We actually liked that the cabin (smaller of the 2 available) wasn't fancy....because we felt like it was easier to have fun there without having to worry about getting mud on white carpets or breaking some kind of decorations etc. The owner was really nice & easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this place to people...if what you're looking for is a chill cabin with a great view / access to the lake...nice patio & yard too! Thanks for making our wedding weekend that much better :)

Family Fun. Great Location!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the big cottage this week as an end of summer get-away for us all (3 kids - 10/8/4). We had an absolutely wonderful time, and glad we found this place to get away for a while and just enjoy being together as a family. The cottage is very private and the large lot made for plenty of fun. Kids enjoyed swimming in the lake. We also were able to get in some fishing, and had a bonfire nightly.

We highly recommend staying here. Thanks so much to Sue for going the extra mile to make our stay such a memorable experience. We couldn't ask for better people to deal with. Thanks for everything!!!

Great place to stay!!

Absolutely wonderful place to get away for a while and just enjoy being together as a family. Fishing, swimming, boating, fires, s'mores - who could ask for anything more. Perfect place to get away from the day-to-day and relax without having to drive for hours. Leaves more time for fun. Cute cottages and great people to deal with. No one could ask for a better experience. We highly recommend staying here. Thanks so much for going the extra mile to make such a memorable experience. We couldn't ask for better people to deal with. Thanks for everything!!!

Loved our stay

  • 4 of 5

We spent 3 weeks at this cottage this summer. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The setting was peaceful and private although it was also fun to be able to watch the boat traffic coming through the channel. We especially appreciated the cleanliness of the cottage. It was nice to know that someone was coming in each sunday with fresh linens and to do the floors, bathroom and kitchen. The owner was very responsive when notifified of a need for repair of sump pump cover and made quick arrangements to address a tree that came down during a storm. No cable TV or internet service but for us that was a plus. We knew about it ahead of time and it made "getting away from it all" much easier. Neighbors are very friendly and close access to nice little diner and grocery store. Planning on returning next summer.
