We are kayakers, mountain bikers, beach combers, and kids at heart. We believe in sustainable practices both in spirit and our balance with the natural world. We work hard to be good stewards, neighbors and community members....but most importantly we believe in learning something new everyday through play, discovery and adventure. We hope to provide the opportunities for others to explore the same.
sunset marine resort purchased this house in 2009
Sequim is known as the 'Blue Hole' to pilots frequenting the area, primarily because it sits in the rain shadow of the beautiful Olympics. What's not to love? With 26 miles of mountain bike trails out right outside our door, kayaks to explore the bay, the National Park to satisfy those hiking urges and sunshine to warm the spirit....it's a great place to live, play and grow.
Probably the single most incredible benefit of being here is watching the look of discovery and wonder on a child's face when they see the clams squirting up from the sand, or watching the adults rediscover what it means to explore again and feel the sand between their toes.
Like a true tree house, an eagle flew over our heads by just a few feet -- Amazing!! Peaceful walk this morning on the beach. What a great property. We are now off to the spit, then Neah Bay. Hope to be back some day.
Our family vacationed to Sunset Marine Resort from Ohio. We were visiting my grandparents. We couldn't have made a better choice! We stayed in the clam cottage and loved every minute! We roasted marshmallows right on the water at night and enjoyed strolling the beach during low tide during the day. We have two younger children and the clam cottage suited us well. We loved how well stocked it was and had everything we needed. It was really clean and comforting. Everyone was accommodating and nice! We were greeted by sea otters and bald eagles, the bald eagle came to say goodbye the morning we left. You will not regret choosing this wonderful resort. We hope to return as soon as we can!
My family has stayed at Sunset Marine Resort many times. We stayed in the Boat House right on the beach where the tide actually goes under the cabin, and in the Landing a few steps up from the beach where the open views of the bay are glorious, with a big front lawn and fire pit. We have also stayed in the Captain's Quarters, much like a condo and elegant, very private and romantic with a deck that opens to a full view. We had a large family traditional Christmas in the Osprey's Nest with a Christmas Tree and dinner last year. This resort is in the woods, miles of beach to explore, fantastic views, and John Wayne marina is right across the bay where we launched our boat last summer. They have kayaks to rent, and trails nearby. We can't wait to go back, nothing beats it on the peninsula. Thank you to the owners for their wonderful hospitality.
If you are looking for a place that is close to fun and beautiful this is the place to be. Out of luck i booked this place for 7 nights and it turned out to be one of the greatest times ever. The ocean view was awsome and the local crab is great. Dont miss out on Port Townsend and Port Angeles to check out the whales. The place was very clean, peaceful, relaxing and owners where more then friendly. We will for sure be back soon. (Wish the kayaks came with the rental.)
Beautiful Sunsets, Wonderful cabins, great beach-combing. The owners are wonderful. My kids had a great time just exploring. They can't wait to come back. This is a great place to visit.
This was my second visit to Sunset Marine Resort. Both trips were
very relaxing and quite special. We had a family weekend getaway and
found SMR to be ideal for a group. It is nice to stay at a smaller place,
have waterfront digs and true peace and quiet. Bird watching is superb from
your cabin window too. Our hosts were very friendly and happy to
tend to anything we needed. I am already planning my next trip!
Stay in the Treehouse if you can! It felt like we were sleeping in the trees - We got into SMR in the late afternoon and it was perfect timing for a walk on the beach. Cozy, relaxing, and romantic. What more do you need?
Our dog also loved the beach and cabin, and we were glad he could come with us!
Sunset Marine Resort is located on Sequim Bay on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula, not far from the Olympic National Park, National Forest land, the Strait of Juan DeFuca or the rich history of the Port Townsend waterfront. Check out Hurricane Ridge, or the Elwha River Valley, or take a trip around the area and visit local wineries and breweries. Whether you prefer adventure, such as mountain biking the Discovery Trail, kayaking or rafting the local rivers, or kiteboarding off of Cline Spit, it's a great spot to call home base. It's also an excellent choice for families looking for a quiet spot to walk the beach with the kids or tell stories around a campfire.
