The Sandy river ski house is located in a quiet and peaceful older neighborhood in Brightwood/Welches, within the shadows of Mount Hood. The property is located on the Sandy river. Many places to sit and relax among the beautiful tall fir trees on the property.
You can hear the rushing river 200' from the house, only a short walk to the waters edge, easy to just sit and enjoy the river. This is a NO SMOKING property.


Summer hiking: Very easy driving to many excellent hiking trails surrounding Mount Hood.

Travel to Ski Bowl for summer fun on the Alpine Slide and other summer attractions.

Easy driving to all 5 Mount Hood Ski areas (Timberline, Ski Bowl, Mount Hood Meadows, Summit, Cooper Spur)

3 & 4 night minimum stays for Holiday Weekends, We welcome your pets, $40 fee per pet for your stay.
Only registered guests are allowed in the house or on the property.

Sandy River Ski House was perfect for our family's stay in the area. We were so delighted with the outdoor space and ate most of our meals at the picnic table and spent a good deal of time relaxing by the private access to Sandy River. The location of the house was so convenient to Thriftway and several eateries and coffee shops as well as all the places we wanted to explore - Mt Hood/Timberline Lodge, Old Salmon River Trail and Trillium Lake were a few of our favorites.The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was very clean, the house was well labeled and David was extremely helpful with recommendations and answering any questions I had. Highly recommend!

Wonderful cabin!

Plenty of room both indoors and out for our family of 5 plus two four legged friends. Lots of living space, a well stocked kitchen and a short walk down to a gorgeous river. Host was friendly and readily available to ensure a smooth visit. This cabin was a perfect home base for adventures on Mt. Hood!

This cozy cabin in the woods is spacious, quiet has many places to walk to including the Sandy River.It is a short walk to a secluded cove. We had the best time and David is the best host! He made sure we had everything we needed and then some. We loved this stay and we will miss it.

Relaxing Getaway

We enjoyed a relaxing holiday getaway at the Sandy River Ski House. Just a short drive from the Portland metro area but a world away in terms of peace and quiet: just the sound of the wind in the trees and the gentle waters of the nearby Sandy River. The house is equipped with all the amenities you may need and is easy to find off the main highway. Overall, a great place to unwind, unplug, and connect with nature

Clean, Comfy & Quiet – A Perfect Mountain Getaway

We had such a great stay here! Super clean and comfortable. We all felt at home right away. The hot tub was clean and toasty, simply splendid. This was great in the evening after a long day of hiking. We loved the nature path down to the river area. The down comforters were super cozy, and mornings with coffee on the front porch and birds singing… couldn’t ask for it better. Quiet, relaxing, and just a really beautiful place. Highly recommend!

Amazing Cabin!!! Best on Mt Hood!

Wonderful Rental! Sparkling Clean. Super nice hottub, right off the Master suite. Shady/Sunny places to sit around the quiet yard, meadow and river. Lots of extras. Host had great recommendations. What a sweet retreat.

What a Beautiful Home

What a beautiful stay. We loved the hot tub and the clear partial awning to view the night sky while listening to the river sounds. This place is great! Frosty mugs in freezer. Super clean. Really nice furnishings. Excellent new mattresses. Sleep number bed in master. Plenty of kitchen "stuff" for cooking. A sweet yard to sit in. The cool meadow down back, and an excellent spot by the river. Great host.

Perfect Family Getaway!

This rental exceeded all expectations! The kitchen was completely stocked with everything we needed, and the king-size beds were incredibly comfortable. The thoughtful layout with two living areas was perfect for our family.Family-Friendly Features:Amazing selection of kids' items - pack and play, children's books, kid-friendly dishes. It's rare to find a rental that truly caters to families.Entertainment:Phenomenal game selection! The large table was perfect for family game nights. With so many options, we were never bored despite the rainy weather.Outdoor Spaces:The charming trail to the river, private riverside spot, and meadow picnic area were lovely even with limited outdoor time due to rain.Exceptional Host:David went above and beyond, providing activity suggestions and staying just a text or call away. I've never experienced such attentive service from a rental host.Rain or shine, this rental provided everything for a memorable vacation. The combination of comfort, thoughtful amenities, and David's outstanding hospitality made it feel like home.Highly recommend!

Nice mnt house

House was easy to get to, located in a neighborhood. Outdoor space is lovely and hot tub was very nice and clean. This spot might not be the best for families with young kids, there were breakable personal items of the owners that were labeled with very expensive costs to replace.. check out the Wildwood recreation site nearby! Only 4Mins from the house.

Lovely home amongst the trees

A quiet neighborhood, a lovely home with lots to do, a wonderfully well put together vacation home. The hot tub was great and the host was easy to communicate with and allowed us a late checkout which was the perfect compliment to our weekend. He even ordered snow for our stay and the fireplace made lovely ambiance. We loved all the games and cozy blankets and beds and we'd love to come back.

Short stay in Mt. Hood

We arrived at the house a couple of days late due to “crowd strike” and cancelled flights. David was so nice and easy to communicate with. He let us stay another day due to our late arrival. We loved the area and the house and grounds are exactly as shown. He gave us good info on hikes and restaurants

Great experience!

Great getaway! Super clean house. Excellent woodsy walk to the river. We enjoyed all the little extras this host provides. Sparkling clean hot tub. The host was once again very helpful. Enjoyed sitting in the quiet yard, enjoying our morning coffee.

Peaceful get away

What a great house, had everything we needed plus more. The hot tub was sparkling. Enjoyed the walk to a beautiful river with chairs to sit and relax. The yard was just as peaceful and relaxing to sit in on a quiet street. David the host was very helpful.

Wonderful place to get away

Excellent vacation home. Very cozy and relaxing among the tall doug fir trees. A quiet street. Super clean. Lots of Xtras in the kitchen. DVD'S, Games, Books galore. Perfect sparkling hot tub. Beautiful sounds from the river when soaking in hot tub in the evening. Great sitting places in the yard and next to the river. Host was very helpful.

Chillin on Mt Hood

Excellent! The only way to describe the sandy river ski house. The house and yard were well maintained. Spotless cleaning. Wonderful amenities. The hot tub was perfect after snowboarding. Comfy beds and couches. A wonderful setting down by the river. The host was very helpful. We'll be back!

Great place!

We had an excellent time! The house had all the amenities that we required and more. Perfect for people who need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but without the compromise. Super clean place and the hot tub was great to come back to after a long day of skiing and adventures. We enjoyed the quietness of the location, as well as the not-so-secret short path to the riverbank (we sat there for lunch!). Host was friendly, helpful, and provided a list of recommendation of things to do. Highly recommended!

Ski Week was Perfect

We stayed for a week and had a lovely time. Hotub was great after skiing and was cleaned and serviced while we were there. Beautiful trail to the river. Just overall an excellent spot.

We love to ski, raft, hike, backpack, swim etc.. Friends love to join us at the Sandy River Ski House for fun, relaxation, sitting around the fireplace and in the kitchen making yummy meals.

It is next to the river (200') with easy access to all the fun stuff to do on Mount Hood. Just a short 50 minute ride from Portland and we can be sitting on the porch sipping tea and listening to the sounds of the river through the large fir trees.
