We’ve stayed at this property three times and have always followed all checkout instructions exactly as provided in the Vrbo app and the house binder. We have over 15 years of rental experience and take pride in leaving places in good condition.This time, we were charged an additional 150 for “cleaning,” despite leaving the home in what most would consider normal, respectful condition. The photos provided reflected typical post-stay use, not damage or excessive mess. As repeat guests, we expected a reasonable conversation—not an immediate charge that felt arbitrary and excessive.What’s even more concerning is that there were several issues during our stay that were never addressed. The backyard had cracked and uneven pavement that felt unsafe, and the exterior steps were unusually large and difficult to navigate. These are basic safety concerns that should be prioritized for guests.Additionally, the internet was not even set up or plugged in when we arrived, which required us to troubleshoot something that should have been ready for guests.If the expectation is that guests must clean to a professional standard on top of paying a cleaning fee, that needs to be clearly communicated upfront. That was not our experience.Between the unjustified charge, lack of responsiveness, and unresolved property issues, this experience felt disappointing and not aligned with what we’ve experienced elsewhere. Unfortunately, we would not stay here again.
