About the property

Luxury Villa, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

The Villa Preciosa is a luxury villa in the Los Limones section of famed golf and beach resort Casa de Campo, on the south coast of the Dominican Republic.

The villa is of Dominican style, with four bedrooms, a huge living room, and a big modern fully equipped kitchen which has folding windows giving onto the dining area of the living room and onto the pool terrace. The beautiful patio is surrounded by a lush tropical garden full of fruit trees, a private pool and a private jacuzzi. There is another pool just behind the villa which is shared with the other houses in the neighborhood. The villa is on a small quiet circle of houses with no through traffic.

The beautiful Minitas beach is a five-minute walk away, or two minutes away on one of the villa's golf carts. The reception area of the hotel, the yacht marina and all activities are also within a few minutes by golf cart. Two golf carts are included in the rental of this villa.

The villa has two indoor dining areas for a total of 14 guests. There is an HD flat-screen TV with CD player and radio/stereo, and wireless broadband internet connection throughout the villa. The beautiful large kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge and freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven, and there is a washer and dryer as well. There is also a separate maid's room with bathroom.

Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, a spacious closet, air-conditioning, TV and an iPod player.

The downstairs bedroom, called Populi (people), features colorful Haitian paintings of women in the market and other people from the area. This bedroom has two double beds and a sofa bed which sleeps two more people. It also has a mini-kitchen with fridge and microwave and a separate entrance from outside.

One of the three rooms upstairs is called Aves, for birds, and features a beautiful painting of cockatoos. It has two double beds and a mezzanine.

Another upstairs room, called Flora, features paintings of beautiful local flowers, and it has a queen-sized bed and a private enclosed balcony area with a view over the lush garden.

The last room upstairs is called Fauna and features a large whimsical jungle painting. It has a king-sized bed and an enclosed bay window area which is equipped with two desk areas and multiple electrical plugs.

The villa is in the famous Casa de Campo resort with a wide variety of activities, including three different world-famous golf courses, one of which is rated number one in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world, with greens overlooking the ocean. There are many other activities in the resort (check the resort web site), including a Teen Club, family activities, all kinds of water and other sports, sightseeing in the nearby area and in Santo Domingo, the capital, and more.

A Dominican, English-speaking maid works in the villa every day from 8h30 to 3h30. She cleans the house and makes and serves breakfast, with groceries bought by the renters. For an extra charge meals can be catered at the villa. There are several restaurants with different cuisines in the resort area, and there's a small grocery store in the resort where food to prepare meals at home can be purchased, or ordered and delivered. Guests can also buy an all-inclusive meal package from the resort at a preferred price, including lunch and dinner at various restaurants in the resort.

Casa de Campo is on the south coast of the Dominican Republic, about half way between the capital, Santo Domingo, further west, and Puna Cana at the east end of the island. The nearest airport is La Romana which is about 20 minutes from the resort and has flights from Miami. The villa is about an hour and a quarter from either the Santo Domingo airport or the Punta Cana airport, and the road is a highway from both places.

Come to la Preciosa for rest, relaxation, sports such as golf and tennis, or unique visits such as the many iconic baseball sites in the Dominican Republic, a country known for its passion for the sport and the incredible talent of its players.

A Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

From my first exchange with Anne, I knew that this villa was going to be wonderful. She was a joy to rent from and answered all my questions accurately and quickly. And I had lots of questions. Came to this villa with my husband, two adult sons and a daughter in law. The villa couldn't have been more comfortable, beds were great, amazing linens, the villa would have easily accomodated many more people. Three large sitting areas and it was perfect to have a bathroom in each bedroom. The internet always worked, a great music system and many many candles to light, all the luxuries of home. Three of us were golfers and the golf was incredible. We will probably have to go back because we didn't get to play all the courses, one was closed for yearly maintenance. We did learn after we had golfed that rerounding was very affordable. An oversight on our part. It was so convenient to have the golf carts to go all over the resort. We certainly never needed to leave the resort. Everything was there that we could possibly need. The Minitas Beach was really conveniently located to the villa and a beautiful beach. There were many great restaurants to choose from and we had a really delicious meal at The Club at El Chavon. El Chavon is a darling little artist colony with an art school as well as an amphitheatre. We were sorry that we were too tired to go to the show the first evening. I can not speak highly enough about Beatriz our housekeeper. Having groceries in the cupboard and refrigerator when we arrived was an added bonus. And then to have a delicious meal ready when we arrived, tired from our overnight flight, it was a dream come true, the table set with 2 wine glasses, linen napkins and yummy food. We were so pampered! By day 3 she knew exactly what we each liked to drink and she just made our meal and there it was. And I must also speak of Maria Ventura and her agency. She made everything we needed be easy. From transportation to and from the airport, to car rental which was delivered to our door and then picked up and a boat rental for snorkeling. She just arranged it and it happened exactly as she said it would be. I don't think there is anything that she couldn't arrange. And she was kind enough to find out where some lovely candle holders I had seen were made after we came home. A great place for card playing, reading, relaxing and enjoying great family time! Loved the pool and the hottub. Thank you for sharing your wonderful villa.

Fabulous Luxury!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Limones 20 for one week. It was absolutely amazing! All the rooms had bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds and quality linens. The kitchen was gigantic and an absolute pleasure to cook in. The outside area was beyond belief. The hot tub was so big you could almost swim in it - it was used very very frequently. The pool and the lounging areas were so picturesque and comfortable. Although we did not engage the services of the maid often, she was always there with a smile and ready to do most anything! We did leave our dog with her for the day while we went sailing and she walked and played with him.

I would HIGHLY recommend staying at Anne and Douglas' place. Quality and luxury throughout. Casa de Campo is also a great vacation spot. We saw a ballet in the amphitheatre!

Don't hesitate to rent this villa - it is a little piece of heaven (in the best neighbourhood!! haha)

Perfect luxury location and villa

  • 5 of 5

We just returned, mh husband and our 6 month old baby from a week at Villa Preciosa. We undertook the mammoth journey from Geneva, Switzerland and arrived at Punta Cana with an extremely overtired baby and nerves frayed to the ends...but we were met by Jose a driver arranged by Maria Ventura who immediately began to help us relax with his calm manner and safe driving. 2 hours later when we arrived at the Villa, Delphine our baby had slept and we were met by Beatriz, the housekeeper and her warm smile and helpful nature. What a relief to finally be there. Smiles lit up our faces when we entered the villa - beautiful and luxury are the 2 words that sprung to mind then and the whole duration of our stay. I can highly recommend the Villa and the resort, we literally had our stresses washed away by the pool and the jacuzzi (immaculately maintained by Olivo) and by the wonderful beach which is a walkable distance. We loved our stay there and didn't want to leave as the people at the beach were so friendly and the coffees were lovely not to mention the pina coladas in pineapples! The marina too was a lovely place to walk around and eat at. Thank you to the owners and Beatriz and Olivo for creating a homely feel in a luxury environment. We would definitely go back but probably fly direct to La Romana airport with our baby next time which we learned we can do from Malpensa in Italy though the return flight was absolutely brilliant - probably because we were so relaxed!!

Vacances de reves

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous place for a vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the villa for two weeks, the first week with family (including an almost-3-year-old grandchild); the second week we were joined by friends. The villa exceeded our expectations in every way - spacious, beautifully equipped and superbly maintained. The weather was perfect, so we spent a lot of time around the pool and eating out under the pergola. Beatrix (the maid) was delightful and kept the house in spic-and-span condition, while Olivo did an equally wonderful job keeping the pool and jacuzzi in sparkling condition. We had one bedroom air conditioner break down, but the maintenance folk from the rental agency were there within a few hours to fix it. They (the rental agency) were also very helpful in other ways, for instance, finding us three bicycles to rent at a rate almost 50% less than was being charged by the bike rental kiosk at the Minitas Beach! The owner was very helpful in answering all our questions in pre-trip emails.

As others have noted, the villa is so luxurious that you don't really have to leave the grounds at all to have a good time. But we did, of course, with some of our party playing golf at Teeth of the Dog, some going off to Bayahibe (about 35 minutes east of La Romana) for scuba diving, side trips to Altos de Chavon (which was almost deserted, alas, as the tourists seem to have been kept away by the recession), and everyone relaxing at the Minitas Beach - which is, by the way, absolutely perfect for small children, as the water within the protected beach area is shallow enough not to intimidate little kids. Despite what snorkeling enthusiasts might hear to the contrary, there is quite decent snorkeling along the artificial reef which protects Minitas Beach - we even saw a species of fish we had never encountered anywhere else, though we have had extensive experience snorkeling all over the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. The golf cart which comes with the villa is a great boon, as it allows one to be independent of a car.

We enjoyed a couple of the restaurants at the Marina, especially Peperoni, and ate twice at the La Cirque restaurant at the beach.

All-in-all this was a terrific experience - we hope to return!

Owner's Response: We're very glad you had such a good time, even if there was a brief breakdown in the air conditioning. You've done such a nice job of summing up a lot of the local activities, it's clear you explored extensively. I hope you come back sometime !

Villa Preciosa is exactly as described in the write-up. There is no exaggeration there. In Feb 2008 we had a fabulous eight-day rest-and-relaxation break from the pressures of the work world. The maid was extremely accommodating to our special meal requests. If you don't want to eat at home evenings, there is a very good restaurant on the nearby beach in Casa de Campo plus a variety of good restaurants nearby outside the resort. Not being golf players, we played a lot of tennis (good instructors, if you need one, plus ball boys to chase your balls for you for a pittance of a tip). Because the resort is huge, recommend renting a small car at the airport when you arrive rather than depending on the golf cart (that comes with the villa) for moving about; rental car also useful for excursions outside the resort.
