Gus`s Stump
In Boyne Falls, Michigan, there is a tranquil property that sits on the North Branch of the Boyne River. The property is called Gus`s Stump. Over the fireplace sits a lovely picture of a special tree stump nestled along the river s edge. A friend of my parents painted this picture capturing the year-round natural beauty of the property.
My father and mother and many other family members and friends have found this home to be a haven from everyday life, peaceful and pristine. For some 60 years we have enjoyed the beauty of Northern Michigan and the comfort of this escape.
My father purchased this property in the 1950 s while playing football for the Detroit Lions. (They were repeat champions in those years). It was the perfect place for him and his mates to retreat to when they needed some down time. They had access to the finest ski areas in the state, great beaches, and an easy drive to the Upper Peninsula. Since those years the number of activities in the surrounding areas has skyrocketed while Gus`s Stump has remained a sanctuary in the middle of it all.
The property sits on 40 private acres and butts up against two nature preserves for literally hundreds of acres of completely undeveloped up-north nature. You can fish in the stream or sun on the large deck. A camp fire is almost a must. Gus s Stump sits in the Township of Boyne Falls. It is a short drive to Boyne, Petosky, and Gaylord, and less than an hour to Charlevoix or Mackinac Island. The entrance to Boyne Mountain is exactly five miles away. All of up north from the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes to Traverse City is within reach.
We want to share this treasure with you. You will find the entire property newly renovated. Your time away will be as peaceful as you image it and as exciting as you want it to be. Delight in your stay, and please, feel at home.
