About this property

Pet-Friendly Lakeside Cabin with Kayaks and Canoe!

Welcome to Cattail Cabin, one of four pet-friendly lakefront stays from O’Connell Cabin Co. This is the Lower Holly Lake cabin built for families who want a fishing boat at the dock and a little extra fun downstairs. Built in 2018 on the shores of Lower Holly Lake in Stone Lake, Wisconsin, it is an open-concept retreat with rustic charm and modern comfort.

A few things to know first:

-Parking is limited to 4 vehicles. The driveway is the only place to park, and it is not very big.
-We welcome up to 2 dogs. The pet fee is $150, and we ask that you declare pets on your reservation.
-If you are thinking of bringing your own boat, ATV, or snowmobile, get in touch so we can talk logistics. The road in is tight, and so is the driveway.

What makes Cattail Cabin different:

-Sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, with a finished walk-out basement. About 2,000 square feet. The third bedroom is an open loft — great for kids.
-A fishing boat with trolling motor is included, plus 2 kayaks, a canoe, a pedal boat, and a lily pad. On a quiet midweek day, Lower Holly Lake can feel like it is yours.
-The walk-out basement is the game room: ping pong and an arcade setup for rainy afternoons or late nights.
-A gas fireplace on the main floor, a screened-in porch, and a large deck looking out over 48-acre Lower Holly Lake.
-Full kitchen with a center island and a dining table that seats 8.

Location and the outdoors:

Cattail Cabin is about 10 minutes from the town of Stone Lake — pubs, antique shops, a micro-brew/coffee house, and a wine bar. Hayward is about 20 minutes north for food, shopping, and year-round events. The cabin sits on a snowmobile and ATV route, and the lake is a quiet spot for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for Northern Pike and panfish. The CAMBA trail system is a drive away if you want bigger mountain-bike mileage.

Also included: firewood for the fire pit, a Blackstone gas griddle, high-speed internet, Smart HDTVs, a king bed in the master, laundry, and a collection of books and games.

Cattail Cabin is the O’Connell Cabin Co. stay for families who want the boat, the games, and a smaller group on Lower Holly Lake.

This was a gorgeous lake side cabin. It has everything you need for a great trip, including a fun game room downstairs. The location was convenient to Hayward & Spooner. The hosts are very organized and included little touches like leaving a fire starter and firewood for our use. We had such a great time, we hated to leave!

Amazing family vacation

Very high quality and comfortable. They thought of everything when designing this cabin from the layout to the flow to functionality and all the amenities. The showers had high pressure and plenty of hot water. There was AC which was great with the 90+ humid weather. The big yard and sandy beach worked well for the 3 young grandchildren. The location was very close to Hayward for additional family activities. Very reasonably priced.

Wonderful cabin time close to bike races in Hayward

We have stayed at O’Connells cabins several times and always have a positive experience. The cabin is exceptionally clean and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are soft. We enjoyed the lake toys that were provided and had bonfires with the wood all stacked and ready for us. We will be definitely be back for more cabin fun!

Another great stay at Cattail Cabin

This was our families second stay at Cattail Cabin. We stayed here last year at the same time and had such a great time we booked it again for our spring break. Everything in the cabin is so well thought out and it has such a comfy and relaxed feeling. Brad the owner is very responsive if you need anything. We will come back for a third time for sure.

The perfect Northwoods Cabin - Cattail Cabin, February 2026

When we walked in to the cabin we immediately knew that we found the perfect place for our Birkie vacation. The whole cabin felt so warm and comfortable and it had everything we were looking for. And when we looked out the windows, the views of the snow covered lake and grounds were so peaceful and beautiful. Also, our communication experience with Brad was outstanding. This was a terrific place to stay for our anniversary getaway. For a little cabin on the lake it had everything! We loved the screened in porch for morning coffee. The kitchen had everything to make a nice breakfast. The bed was comfortable. The entire cabin was very clean. We look forward to coming again!

Great family getaway!

We had an amazing relaxing week at this cabin! Very clean and beautiful place, we just felt right at home. Kids loved all the games and ping pong table! Right on a snowmobile trail was very nice too! Would definitely recommend staying here💜

Beautiful cabin inside and out. Absolutely exquisite! Host very congenial and responsive. Loved watching sunsets and listening to nature on the dock bench. Fish feeding and jumping, muskrats swimming. Loved the game rooms downstairs on rainy days. Beautiful fall leaves, too. Definitely worth a return trip.

Amazing getaway at a beautiful cabin!

So relaxing, all the amenities you could wish for! Awesome communication with the Host Brad for great places to eat, play golf and winery. Relaxing by the campfire, cooking on the black stone listening to the loons! We are looking forward to our next stay!

Picturesque Cattail Cabin

We enjoyed everything about our stay! The cabin was cozy and spacious. We had all the amenities and more. Loved the fire pit and enjoyed it under the stars each night. Comfy spaces to lounge and soak up the sun!

My wife Sarah and I are from Eau Claire (about an hour and a half south of our cabin) which is where we live too. We have 2 teenage kids at home, so like a lot of families, we are busy keeping up with sports, school activities, and everything in between. We identify with everyone out there who feels the need to get away every once in a while.

Why they chose this property

We love the northwoods! We chose to buy this home because we stayed at a handful of cabin rentals nearby in years past and fell in love with this area. It didn’t take long before we dreamed of owning our own cabin someday.

What makes this property unique

The first time we saw this cabin in-person, it was still under construction, however we knew right away that it was something special. When you're inside the cabin, you still feel connected to the outdoors. Even though the building is brand-new, the cabin interior has that classic rustic feel. It's cozy yet at the same time, provides all the space you and your family need to spread out and enjoy yourselves. We absolutely love this cabin and our hope is that you will love it too.
