A roomy remodeled retreat close to MassMoCA

Large Victorian house within walking distance to MassMOCA and downtown North Adams. Sleeps eight comfortably with two bathrooms and laundry facilities on-site. Fully stocked cooks' kitchen and large grassy yard with parking for 5-6 tandem. Several outdoor spaces for relaxing in this beautiful Berkshires setting.

The House - Decorated in an industrial Victorian style befitting the location, the Zoo features three formal bedrooms, a private sleeping library and two bathrooms. A screened three season porch and two additional outdoor porches allow for enjoyment of the yard and local creatures.

Perfect for family reunions, group getaways and smaller retreats, the house is setup for small groups with plenty of dining chairs and extra tables for holiday dinners.

The Neighborhood - The Neighborhood is a short walk to MassMoCA and downtown. Like much of North Adams, the neighborhood is mix of long-term residents, new neighbors and is characterized by varying socio-economic classes. We consider it safe and in transition and expect guests to be quiet and respectful.

North Adams is close to great local ski areas and is ten minutes from both Vermont and New York state. The Appalachian Trial runs through town and the surrounding area is filled with natural beauty and sights.

Cleaning is provided; however, you are expected to follow the check-out instructions prior to your departure. Failure to comply may lead to additional cleaning charges. Because the house is so large, it may take up to four hours to clean after full occupancy. For couples, cleaning is usually more straightforward. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to scale the cleaning fee for the guest party size; for now one size fits all.

We had a great stay here as a small group on an artist retreat at Mass MoCA. Easy parking, quick communication and so many amenities, especially if you plan on cooking. Lovely, terrific house in N. Adams!

This was the perfect spot to enjoy our vacation (6 relatives and a dog) centered on Mass MoCA and the Bang on a Can festival. Such a lovely house, great location, easy check-in and street parking, and very well-equipped kitchen (we cooked for and hosted a group of 12 relatives comfortably one evening). It was extremely hot outside for the first part of our trip, but the A/C units and fan made it work. Owner was very quick to respond to our questions, and sent a maintenance person quickly to fix it when there was an alarm malfunction. Highly recommend!

We love Brooklyn Zoo!

This was the perfect property for our family! We enjoyed going to nearby Windsor Lake (10 min), Berkshire East Sport Park (30 min), Williamstown (10 min), Farmers Market (5 min), and taking in the views from Wigwam Western Summit (10 min). At the property, among other things, we enjoyed the spacious kitchen, screened in porch, Weber grill, the decor, comfortable beds, fire pit, and badminton set. The check-in and check-out processes were easy and communication with the property manager was fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Thank you!

Sweet house which is at spitting distance from an incredible museum. We had a great time with 4 adults and 4 kids under 10. House was very livable (though we did wish for slightly comfier furniture in the living room, the beds were lovely), cute, and fun. Would definitely book again.

Quaint house convenient location

Since all of us are over 65,we decided to use the downstairs bathroom for showers. The heating was great and the washer and dryer very handy! Lots of hot water and easy to use kitchen.

Girls Weekend Getaway

This house was perfect for what we were seeking - a cozy spacious home to relax and explore. And even with a rainy forecast we were able to hike to a waterfall, walk downtown several times for food and entertainment, and of course we hunkered down with coffee and snacks indoors too. The neighborhood, we decided, is "up and coming" - a bit of construction and some homes in need of a little TLC but we felt safe and sound, and had a truly wonderful experience.

Centrally located to many museums. Despite the neighborhood appearance it was a quiet street with adequate parking for two large vehicles in the yard.The house definitely had its old charm and will need some exterior work done in the future. the floor tilts and the water pressure whistles whenever in use. If you’re a light sleeper the whistle will definitely wake you up.Overall it was a nice rental and met all of our needs for the group. My only suggestion would be to possibly have some of the broken/rusted chairs fixed/replaced, add some wine glasses and have the bathroom mirrors enlarged. We’d recommend this to anyone looking to visit local museums with a large group.

This house is beautiful on the inside! It’s immaculately clean and well stocked. We loved the vintage feel and decor inside the home and the screened in porch. The only downfall I would say is first impression from the outside. It does not look good. Definitely needs some TLC. If I had seen the outside first I would have passed it over but I’m so glad we didn’t. The neighborhood is older and we weren’t exactly sure how safe it would be. That being said we didn’t have any problems or see anything that ever made us feel uncomfortable. It was very quiet the whole time we were there. We will definitely stay there again.

Fun and Nostalgic Home

In town with multi-generational family for college graduation and Mother’s Day. The 1st floor sitting room bedroom w/full bathroom made it easy for older generations to be comfortable and not have to use stairs, the second floor bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Both bathrooms show recent renovations and were delightful. The house’s decor a delightful and indoor /outdoor space perfect for all to play badminton and relax. Would absolutely recommend and will seek to stay here again for future adventures.

Beautiful house close to Mass MoCA

This is an immaculate property in a great location within walking distance of Mass MoCA. It was perfect for our group of 5 adults. Emily was responsive and the instructions were very clear. We loved North Adams and enjoyed the scenery and a few of the local restaurants. We hope to stay again if we’re on the area. PS: This is a great spot for coffee lovers. The house is well-stocked with coffee and multiple different kinds of coffee makers - an espresso machine, drip coffee, french press….

Who knew a Zoo could be so stylish?!?!

This was our second time staying here, this time with our adult children. We all enjoyed the stay and appreciated the farmhouse/vintage style. The only things that could have made it better was a good bread knife. We stopped at The Berkshire Baking Co on our way to N. Adams to load up on sourdough and it was a challenge to slice it but the toaster worked GREAT! Also the streaming service (TV) wasn’t great. It was choppy and finicky at times which was frustrating. We are very likely to return to The Brooklyn Zoo next year:-))))

With numerous outdoor spaces, there's plenty of bird and animal watching on the property. Once you're ready for more urban pursuits, MassMOCA and downtown North Adams are a six minute walk down the hill.

What makes this property unique

Decorated in a quirky Victorian style with plenty of family-made art throughout. With a focus on upcycling and salvage sourcing, the home is filled with unique local finds and objects.

There's plenty of space for all your friends or family to celebrate or enjoy a long weekend. With a very well-stocked kitchen, the family table will be a place to make new memories.

The house is named "The Brooklyn Zoo" because of its location on Brooklyn Street and the animal motif artwork throughout the space.
