About Jason & Joanne Carter
We actually live in Jacksonville, FL. When we need to get away from the hustle and bustle, there is no place better than our peaceful mountain home. It is our happy place and will surely become one of yours.
Jason & Joanne Carter purchased this Townhome in 2016
Why Jason & Joanne Carter chose Clayton
20+ years ago, my husband lived 1/2 way up the mountain and has never forgotten his time in Clayton. Fast forward 20+ years and when we saw the location of this townhouse, we couldn't resist. We bought this property because of the location. It sits right at the top of Screamer Mountain and the views are just breathtaking. With downtown Clayton being just 5 miles away, this was a perfect place to just unwind.
What makes this Townhome unique
Our mountaintop location is quiet and serene, with breathtaking views of the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are many outdoor activities to do here, including hiking, boating, fishing, biking, and golfing. If shopping is what you are looking for, look no further. Downtown Clayton has plenty of boutiques to browse through and if you are looking for antiques, Butler Galleries has all that and more! We are only 5 minutes from Downtown Clayton, but our townhouse is located on the opposite side of the mountain from town, and provides you with a view of the Chattahoochee National Forest that is mostly devoid of human presence. There is no better way to top off an adventure filled day than to enjoy a glass of locally grown wine from one of the decks of "Halfway to Heaven"! Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway, or a family reunion, this is the place for you!!

Not clean, couldn’t stay.
We were unable to stay. We had to leave a few hours after we arrived in Day 1. There was a lot of dog hair and evident animal odors, 2 of the 3 toilets were dirty (hair and feces) , several spots with red/brown smudges and chunks on walls and door jambs, & couch cushions were extremely stained. Mid level deck needs to be sured up, was very wobbly and creaky. Planned on a 2000 sq foot home and had to settle for a 300 sq ft hotel room.
We try our best to make sure that all of our guest visiting our house have a great experience. This is the first I am hearing about this issue and I know that this guest stayed in the property the entire time. I even spoke to the guest during her stay because I had a package delivered and this was never mentioned once. I wish the experience would have been better. I actually stayed right before this guest and the place smelled and looked great. We have lots of repeat guest and never really have had any complaints.
The house is very nice and the view was awesome.
We enjoyed our stay and will keep this one on our list for this area. It was very quite at night and on a clear night the view was incredible.
Excellent views. Relaxing porches.
Excellent views from the three porches on this condo. While we were there we had 8 inches of snow. We were prepared with enough food and it was a good thing as there is a hill coming in to the complex that wasn't plowed by the city. The condo itself is showing some age but it is comfortable and spacious with 3 floors of living space. I would recommend this as a good place to stay for families.
Views are incredible.
Wonderful townhome. Very well furnished and owners have made sure the renters feel welcome. We definitely would like to return and highly recommend this rental.
The instructions to get there were great but at night we missed seeing the last of the turns which was Summit Drive in the dark because it is a very old hand painted and faded small sign. IF YOU ARRIVE AT NIGHT especially in the fog like we did we would advise you to look for the bright yellow and black Saddle Gap Rd sign which points left but you turn right instead and you will be there at the townhome very quickly and WOW you will be amazed at the stars the moon and the quietness of the night and truly feel halfway to heaven from all 3 of your private decks.
I packed our favorite keurig pods but forgot my creamer so black coffee it was but I truly didnt mind because sitting on that deck wrapped in one of the small blankets provided by the owner on a chilly morning watching the sun rise was truly priceless. The only advice I have is for the cleaning crew to throw the shower curtain into the washer along with the towels every once in a while to keep it squeaky clean and less slippery at the bottom.
Otherwise a sheer perfection stay at the very caring and welcoming vacation home of the couple that choose to share they're paradise.
Perfect Mountain Vacation Rental!
Half Way To Heaven was the perfect mountain vacation rental for my family! The Mountain View’s were spectacular from every level, very comfortable beds and sofas, and it had everything we needed, and more! I loved sitting on the deck every morning to watch the sunrise, so quiet and peaceful. The electric fireplaces made us warm and cozy as we played Scrabble in the living room, or slept in the master suite upstairs. It was so nice not to have to deal with hauling fire wood and sparks flying indoors, just used the remote controls. There was a wonderful fire pit and stone seating area next to the covered carport where we did light the provided fire wood and made s’mores our last night there. We loved Clayton and all of the unique shops, cafes, and restaurants. Everyone was so nice and friendly there. This rental was perfect for just staying indoors and enjoying the views through the windows and using the WiFi to work, or for getting out and exploring the area. We hiked at Black Rock Mountain State Park, explored the Foxfire Museum village of Appalachian life and watched the village weaver, Sharon Grist, weaving on a loom. We purchased beautiful hand woven scarves and towels there for Christmas gifts.
The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking meals, and they had salt, pepper, dish detergent, paper towels, trash bags, etc already there. You only need to bring your food, beverages, and clothing. All linens and towels were provided. Also, the tap water tasted wonderful for drinking. They even had a Keurig with k-cups provided in addition to a Mr. Coffee.
I plan on returning there with more family and friends in the future to enjoy the mountains of North Georgia.
Can't beat the views or peace and quiet.
Excellent time! Perfect location for a getaway. Views are incredible, yet so close to downtown Clayton. Top of mountain privacy. Unit nicely equipped and furnished, especially the kitchen, great televisions, plenty of linens, pillows and blankets and even a dog bed for my dog, who much preferred it to his own. All in all a great stay in the mountains!
Chattooga river excitement is minutes from our door, along with Tallulah Falls, Black Rock and Moccasin Creek State Parks. There are 5 lakes in Rabun county with boat rentals available. The Foxfire museum is close by and definitely worth a visit. The Bartram trail, Appalachian trail, Chattooga River trail and many other outstanding hiking trails are nearby. Trout fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, golf ... so much to do, so little time! We are only 45 minutes away from Cherokee, NC, if gambling interests you!
