About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 6-8)

Welcome!

Summer and fall in Wisconsin; hiking, swimming, volleyball, Bocce ball, barbeques, relaxing on the deck looking out over the lake and enjoying the peacefulness that surrounds The Cabin. Add an evening Pit fire indoor fireplace and you have perfection! Plan your family getaway or take some time for yourself at The Cabin. A private spring fed lake and 70 acres of walking trails. There is a water trampoline (seasonal), canoes, kayaks and paddleboats for you to enjoy. Children and dogs love the freedom to run around and explore. There is also calm and relaxation. Been planning to read a book - this is the place.

Road America is 11 miles from this private lake community. Elkhart Lake along with the infamous Kohler golf courses are 14 miles from our lake. Lake Michigan is just 20 miles from the cabin.

My husband built this long house style cabin in 2003, for our family. It is the perfect place to bring your family and spend time having fun and relaxing together. The cabin is bright and enveloping. Take some time to read, to rest, to hike, to swim, to play games, and to spend time together.

The community consists of 10 vacation homes. All our neighbors are considerate and are there for the same reasons we are; to get away and enjoy the peaceful beauty with our families. You will love the rustic feel of the cabin and yet, it has all the necessary amenities of home.

It is fabulous! Walk the cut trails through the woods and prairie, watch for deer, owls, and the waterfowl on the creek. This one of a kind place is something you must experience, we are sure you will want to return year after year. We look forward to meeting you.

It is important to us that our home meets your standards, please take the time to pick up prior to leaving, it will help us with the next guest's preparations.

About Dawn Knitter and Victoria Knitter

Victoria (26), Claudia (23), Mike and Dawn 2016

Mike and I currently live out west. Our daughters live in Milwaukee just 55 minutes south of the cabin. Mike works in Human Resources and I am a Photographer. We all enjoy the outdoors; Mike with a passion for golfing, fishing, snowshoeing, and skiing and I also enjoy those outdoor activities plus photography and gardening. We have five family dogs; one Welsh Corgie (Rosie) and German Shepherd (Maya) our daughter Victoria's Beagles (Olive and Sully) and Claudia's Border Collie/Shepherd (Penny Lane). Having the cabin offers all of us the opportunity to spend quality time together, have fun and relax.

Mike built this 1000 sq ft cabin for our family in 2003 and it is absolutely one of the best things we did for our family and friends.

We hope you enjoy yourselves as much as our family does.

Why Dawn Knitter and Victoria Knitter chose Cascade

This property is unique. It is private and yet social. Don't miss an opportunity to spend some time at The Cabin. It is impossible to describe, our visitors are always surprised with what they see no matter how much we try to describe it them. It is a one of a kind and everyone who has visited or stayed with us loves it.

What makes this cabin unique

Imagine driving on a county highway in rural Wisconsin, passing farms with acres of open farmland, passing through small towns that are not even a mile long and then turning down a gravel road, being greeted by the beautiful cows at the top of the road and continuing a short distance to find an ornate gate leading into The Willows. Upon entering you will see beautiful rustic cabins and homes with a picturesque spring fed lake directly in front of you. The remainder of the property cannot be adequately described, you must see it. This is a friendly private community that you will want to return to.

Notes:
This cabin built in 2003, has a full kitchen with all necessary cooking items. It includes a table that can seat 12. It is extremely bright and friendly. There is an enclosed bedroom with queen bed, a lofted bedroom with 2 trundle beds, one can be made into a king bed, and the living room has a new queen sofa bed. All linens are provided. The deck is the place to spend the day relaxing and the patio area is great for grilling and includes a table for 6. When it cools down, there is plenty of wood for the patio fire pit..enjoy a glass of wine and don't forget the smores. This lake is spring fed and absolutely beautiful to swim in or float around and relax. This is a NO motor lake community. There are a number of dogs around and they do visit through out the day. This is an incredibly fun yet relaxing atmosphere; come and experience it.

Little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful vacation in this little paradise. For 5 days we swam, relaxed on the beach, played on the water trampoline, paddle boards, fished (catch and release) and grilled out. This felt like a true vacation. All the neighbors were wonderful and I'm not sure who had a better time- the adults, the kids, or our dog! We hope to visit again soon. Thanks again Dawn!

Nice relaxing and private family vacation.

  • 4 of 5

Pros: private, Great Lake for fishing and swimming. We had fun making fires, playing basketball and tennis and relaxing on the deck. Also, the house is located 8 miles from Kettle Moran state park which has tons of bike trails.

Cons: the staircase is very steep and concerning for small children and had difficulty with the WiFi and Roku.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry you could not get the Roku to work. We will definitely look into it. The staircase is difficult and that is in the process of being rebuilt as a straight down versus the corner that turns on the narrower steps. Thanks for staying with us and we hope you will consider another vacation with us in the future. Enjoy the summer, it does go by so fast. Dawn

Great get-away for a weekend or vacation.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin because we were working an outage at the plant in Sheboygan. This is a great place to stay. The architecture style of the inside of the cabin is truly beautiful. The beds where very comfortable. We really enjoyed the lake & patio and spent several nights having a few drinks on the patio while the sun went down. My dog really like swimming in the lake, the water is crystal clear.

Get away from it all at The Willows

  • 4 of 5

My husband, two young children, 7 month old pup and I had a wonderful time getting away from it all at The Willows. The Knitters home was very welcoming and the lake called our name! We enjoyed kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and the water trampoline. If you are looking for high energy, then this is not the place for you. This is a relax, read a book, melt some s'mores and get away from the stresses of everyday life.
